Cruel Divide

Miles stretch between us, vast and wide, while she stands close, right by your side.
I'm left to yearn from afar, watching your life like a distant star. Her fingers can trace your smile's curve, a privilege I long to deserve.
She breathes the air that you exhale, while I'm left clutching details of our last embrace, now fading fast, wondering how long this distance will last. I picture her hand in yours, so near,
And envy clouds my vision clear.
Each laugh you share, each quiet moment, feels like a treasure I'm not owed it. The casual touch, the inside joke, fuel a jealousy that leaves me broke. I close my eyes and try to feel
Your presence, but it's never real.
While she basks in your warmth, your light, I'm left alone in jealous night.
Oh, how I wish to bridge this space, to be the one in her place. To hold you close, to feel your touch, is it wrong to want so much?
Yet here I stay, miles apart, jealousy gnawing at my heart. Dreaming of a day when I might be the one who's close enough to see.
