I feel the waning of my mortal frame, each breath a struggle, each heartbeat a strain.
In twilight corners, just beyond my sight, I sense your presence, shrouded by the night.
Oh Death, you wait with patience infinite, your shadowed form a harbinger so grim.
I've caught your gaze across the dimming room, your silent call, a whisper through the gloom.
My body fails, a vessel wearing thin, the pain a constant, throbbing from within.
Yet as you draw near, with your outstretched hand, I pause, unsure, upon this borderland.
For am I truly ready for this leap?
To close my eyes in that eternal sleep?
There's so much left undone, unsaid, unseen, so many paths my feet have never been.
The world still holds such wonder and such light,
Despite the growing shadows of my night.
Each sunrise brings a beauty yet untold, each love a treasure more precious than gold.
But you, oh Death, you offer me release, an end to suffering, a promised peace.
Your embrace, they say, is gentle and is kind, a balm to soothe the weary heart and mind.
So here I stand upon the precipice, between the known and the great abyss.
You wait for me, your patience never ends, but is it time to greet you as a friend?
My spirit wavers, torn 'tween fear and rest, uncertain if I've truly passed life's test.
Oh Death, you beckon from the fading light, but am I ready for that final flight?
