For you @AngelAshdown
Lucy had to admit that she didn't sleep as well as she slept with Tim by her side. It drove her crazy to wake up, not pressed against his chest with his arms around her and his cologne in her nostrils. She missed his comforting words whenever she had a nightmare and would wake him up. She missed Tim in general, everything about him.
After an almost sleepless night, she woke up to the ringing of her phone.
She groaned and blindly reached for her phone, wondering who would call her at this time.
"Hello?" She muttered, phone against her ear.
"Lucy?" Came Nolan's voice through the speaker.
"Nolan, what is it?" She asked, stifling a yawn.
"Something happened tonight and Tim is involved. I'm not supposed to tell you anything but I think you deserve to know, you still care enough about each other."
With that Lucy was wide awake. She sat up and clutched her comforter against her chest, what could possibly have happen to Tim?
"Nolan what happened to Tim?" She asked, almost afraid to her an answer she would never recover from.
Nolan sighed, "Mad dog killed himself in front of Tim. He jumped off the hospital roof. "
"Oh my god, why?" She knew that Mad dog became a good friend of Tim, he was over a few times for a beer and they had fun. She liked him and he had been good for Tim.
"We don't know it yet but Grey just called me, Tim most definitely needs his union rep in the morning. The leading detective suspects him."
"What?! That's bullshit Nolan. He would never hurt Mad dog, he was Tim's friend!"
"I know that, everyone that knows Tim knows that, but the detective is really eager to get Tim behind bars. I just wanted to let you know."
"Thanks...where is he now?"
"As far as I know at home."
"Alone?! He shouldn't be alone."
"No not alone. Angela picked him and Kojo up at the hospital. She stayed with him."
Lucy sighed in relief, she really wouldn't like him to be alone in this kind of situation and headspace.
"Thanks for letting me know Nolan. I really appreciate it."
"No problem Lucy. I know that that won't be in your mind right now, but happy birthday."
Lucy sighed, "Thanks Nolan. Good night."
"Good night."
After Nolan hung up, Lucy knew that she wouldn't be able to catch any sleep. Not without knowing if Tim was all right.
She pulled up Angela's contact on her phone and send a quick message asking if Tim was okay.
She didn't want to ask Tim directly, not right now with everything going on between them and his situation. She would try to see him later today, make sure he's okay.
Lucy laid back down and kept staring at her unread message to Angela.
After what felt like hours, Angela finally replied.
physically okay, he just fell asleep
Before Lucy could reply another text from Angela came through.
he will be fine as long as he's not framed for something he didn't do. We both know he's not capable of something like this.
Lucy quickly replied, never. Who's the leading detective?
no idea. I didn't stay at the scene, just picked him up.
Again, before Lucy could reply, another message popped up.
He could really use a little bit of magic Lucy comfort
Of course Angela would try to set them up right after a tragedy.
thanks for letting me know
Angela replied with a wink emoji.
Lucy was about to put down her phone when Angela send her a picture.
Lucy opened it and saw Tim peacefully sleeping and cuddling Kojo. She saw another hand holding his and smiled to herself.
She knew that he loved to cuddle up and sleep. It was something that surprised her at the beginning of their relationship.
He always needed to touch her somehow, if it was a hand on her hip, his fingers finding hers and intertwining them, his lips in her hair. She missed him so much.
Suddenly she felt even more alone than before. Damn him to be the one breaking up with her. It could have been her supporting him through this mess, she's glad that Angela got his back. Nevertheless it hurt, not being able to hold him tight.
She didn't bother with replying. Angela knew that she scraped at a topic that does not need to be discussed, or more not with her. Lucy wanted nothing more than the adult conversation she asked Tim about. If and when he was ready to deliver was up to him.Sleep hadn't come easy that night, but she managed to get a few hours in. Work was even more exhausting, since she knew Tim was in interrogating and she couldn't see him.
She almost gave up hope to see him, when she noticed him going into the elevator. She hurried after him and stopped the doors from closing. She catches his eyes and suddenly she knew, she would never get over him and judging the look on his face neither could he.
