ALESSIA AMATO

"You always do

"You always do." Liam smiles at my question.

I turn around and take in the woman before me. Her dark hair is pinned back in an elegant bun, giving way to her thick brows and stunning, dark eyes. The sides of her full lips are upturned in a soft smile and I momentarily forget to breathe. I gaze down at her cream dress which ends above her knees and the long sleeves get wider the closer they are to the wrists. Her tanned legs seem longer thanks to the gold heels she's wearing.

"Naila, you... are perfect." I mumble.

The silence makes me realise that I said that out loud and I internally cringe. Naila's soft laugh greets my ears and I breathe in relief as she steps my way and hugs me, her rich scent enveloping me.

"You look beautiful, Alessia." She smiles. "How are you?"

"Great." Now that I've seen you. "How about you?"

"Good. Everything's good." Her perfect smile doesn't leave her perfect face. "And who's that?" The woman glances behind me.

"This is Liam." I say, stepping aside to make space for them to shake hands when I remind myself that there are other people beside us.
Naila and her date, who I've realised just now, shake hands with Liam.

"Vincenzo Marchetti." The tall man, dressed in a black suit, offers his hand to me.

"Alessia Amato." I smile at him, trying not to shy away from his intimidating eyes, his hand rough in mine.

I can't help but wonder why Naila's not here with the guy she was supposed to be married with by now. The big ring on her hand was hard not to notice but Vincenzo isn't her fiancé. I'd think this is something along the lines of a business date but his tight hold on her waist says otherwise.
Maybe both of our weddings didn't go as planned.

Vincenzo is as tall as Liam but his hair is darker and ends with loose curls, the brown in his eyes isn't as dark as the woman's beside him but they hold an intimidating note inside them, just as his deep voice. Andre's choice of song wasn't without reason, the man's undone top button gives way to his chest tattoos which are also on his hands and knuckles and probably on many other parts of his tanned body.

"How are your parents?" Naila asks, tearing my curious eyes away from her date.

"They're fine." I guess. "What about yours?"

"Relieved now that I've taken over their tasks." She laughs, making her gold earrings dangle.
The woman mentioned once that she'd take over the family business after marriage.

"You've probably been busy."

"A bit. The transition was smooth, the preparations started a long time ago and grandma has been of great help."
