HUNTER

The place is filled with expensively dressed people

The place is filled with expensively dressed people. Each one more annoying than the other. Loud music, shrilling laughter and the clatter of glass irritates my ears as fake smiles, colourful dresses and bright lights hurt my eyes. The tight shirt itches my skin and if another person passes me, making me breathe in yet another displeasing perfume, I might just break their neck.

Liam probably invited me to have an eye out for any unwanted situations more than to have fun at his wedding as a guest of the groom. I'm not surprised because watching as he has his lustful gaze only on Alessia is sickening. I'm wondering if he'd even take his greedy eyes off her if a comet was heading straight for us.

Standing on the sidelines, having a perfect view of the entrance, I watch the rich partying. I sigh. Is this what my life has come to? My shoulders are tense as I watch the large amount of people. This would turn into a shit show if someone were to fire a gun. The entrance isn't big enough if all of them were to head for it. Not just one person would end up trampled on.
One less snob on the world. What a pity.

A waitress passing offers me a drink and I refuse. My eyes spot Liam once again and he unfortunately realises me too. I guess this means I have to congratulate him. It doesn't take me long to get to the couple as people usually steer clear and make way for me.

"Congratulations." I say, shaking Liam's outstretched hand.

"Thanks, Hunter. I'm glad to see you here." The tall man dressed in an elegant, black suit knowingly smirks. There was a small chance of me coming but here I am.

I turn to shake Alessia's hand but the brunette presses her slim body against mine, causing me to tense. Is she actually hugging me?

"Thank you, Hunter. It means a lot to have Liam's one true friend here with us." She smiles when she fortunately retracts away from me.
Friend? What is this crazy woman taking about?

"Yeah..." I mutter, glancing at the man beside her. I'm not sure if his frown is caused by her choice of words or her hugging me but it brings me satisfaction nonetheless.

"Alessia!" We turn towards where the feminine voice came from.

A short blonde makes her way to us. A pale yellow dress covering her body, meaning she's a bridesmaid. Her long hair ends in curls and her striking, big eyes can be seen from far away because of their vibrant blue colour.

She grabs Alessia with her only hand. "Naila's here." The woman not so subtly whispers.

"Really?" Alessia's face turns into one of pure excitement.

Well, that's my queue to leave. As I'm about to free myself from the horror of conversing with others, Alessia proves that she wields the power of bringing nightmares to life.

"Mia, this is Hunter. Hunter, this is Mia." Her grin is sly and I can see mischief in her brown eyes.

She definitely suits Liam, who's visibly pleased with my discomfort. His disgusting smirk smug. Mia turns towards me, her bright eyes taking me in. My muscles tense even more.

"Hi, I'm Mia Howard." The woman's full, pink lips turn into a smile. My brows furrow.

Her smile doesn't look fake, it doesn't make me feel distaste. It seems sincere, as if it's nothing new to her to share kindness. To be real. Mia's smile slightly falls as she waits for me to shake her extended hand.

"Hunter." My voice sounds deeper than usual and I clear my throat as my hand engulfs hers.

Her skin is warm and soft, the total opposite of mine. The woman overall seems like my opposite.

"Mia, why don't you show Hunter where the snacks are?" Liam suggests and as his cunning, blue eyes challenge me, I feel like I could rip his tongue out of his dirty mouth.

He's trying to get rid of us however I don't see the point, taking into account that this place is packed with people trying to speak with them. That means no alone time for him and Alessia.
Boohoo, poor Liam.

"Oh, sure." Mia smiles at me, causing my stomach to do a weird thing. I furrow my brows at that while her plump lips fall down once again.
