Chapter 17

Our dinner was a little bit uncomfortable on my part. But Spencer’s presence made it more bearable for me. 

His Mother is kind but her questions was a little bit off for me, there is nothing wrong with it and I guessed it is just natural for her to ask those questions.

“Salamat po ulit sa dinner.” Paalam ko.

Nasa may pintuan na kami at hinihintay ko na lang si Spencer mula sa silid niya. Nagpalit lang siya ng damit at ihahatid na niya ako.

Tita Gloria smiled at me. “No worries, Iha. You can come here anytime that you please.”

Tumango ako at ngumiti at siya namang pagdating ni Gabriel na may hawak na cellphone.

“Tita, may tawag po kayo sa trabaho.” Sabay bigay ng cellphone nito.

Tita Gloria excused herself and went inside. Naiwan naman kami ni Gabriel malapit sa pinto habang ang Nanay niya ay nasa kusina pa. Si Lolo at Lola naman ay nagpapahinga sa kanilang silid.

Gabriel leaned in the door and looked at me with a bright smile on her face. 

“Akala ko maswerte ka na kay Spencer, but I think Spencer is more lucky to be with you.” Komento nito.

Umiling ako at ngumiti. “I think I am more lucky with him, matagal ko na siyang gusto.”

Her eyes went wide. “Ikaw ang unang nagkagusto?”

I nodded my head. “Maybe? Crush na rin niya ako matagal na masyado lang siyang pakipot.”

Hindi ko mapigilan na mapangisi kapag naalala ko ang mga kwento ng Lola niya sa akin. Spencer has been talking to me about years but he never really reciprocated my feelings before. 

“That’s odd…Spencer never really likes girls who chase him, it was a major turn off to him.”

I raised my brows at her. “I guessed my patience paid off?”

She chuckled and shook her head. 

“Is he your first boyfriend? You look like you are always in a relationship.”

My mind froze a moment again because of her opinion. It just sounded so off to me. She talked like a very conservative person even though she is living in the States. But I guess it's just the way she is.

Umiling ako at agad na nalukot ang mukha niya. 

“That’s odd too…you know…Spencer likes those who value relationships, not just a passing time…kaya iisa pa lang ang ex niya eh.”

I licked my lips and looked at her unsurely. Her statements are really throwing me off. And she mentioned his ex again.

“I had relationships before…I am a teen and I explore things. It was normal for me.” Sagot ko na may pilit na ngiti.

She shrugged her shoulders and smiled at me.

“We always have our first, and definitely you are the first for Spencer. He must be exploring too, right?”

Unti-unti akong tumango. But there is definitely something wrong with the way she constructs and delivers her words that really threw me off.

I am blunt but I’m not sarcastic, while she just sounds almost sarcastic to me.

“Who is his first girlfriend?” Ako naman ngayon ang nagtanong.

Her eyes went wide and stood up properly.
