Butterflies

I've become very fond of hanging around Lord Rengoku. He's such a positive person, which is a very welcome change to the negativity and paranoia that I've been experiencing lately. He said he tried to bring Senjuro as well, but he was acting as if he was scared to come, so he stayed home.

Today, Lord Rengoku is coming over again, so, of course, I waited eagerly for him in the garden. I watched the koi on the bench, my gaze occasionally flicking to look at the doors. When they slid open, I perked up and grinned. I stood and walked across the bridge to greet Lord Rengoku. He had his large, characteristic smile, and he held a bouquet of my favorite flowers!

"Oh, Lord Rengoku, you didn't!" I gasped, taking the bouquet when he offered them to me.

"Please, call me Kyojuro!" He responded, "I'd get any gift for my favorite girl!"

I laughed bashfully and held the bouquet close to me.

"I'll have these stored in my best vase."

Kyojuro felt as if he hit a jackpot. At first, when the emperor called upon him to see the princess, he was skeptical. But, as he slowly got closer and closer to the girl, he realized just how much of a sweetheart she was.

There was just something about her... It made him so intrigued. Maybe even a bit... obsessed? Kyojuro laughed at the thought. What an overstatement! Still, he really did like the princess! He wouldn't mind one bit if the two of them got engaged.

He paused his walk through the hallway, the feeling of being watched suddenly overwhelming his senses. Something in his gut screamed at him to heighten his guard. He glanced around, and sure enough, hiding behind a corner was a short young man with pale green and black hair. His lavender eyes were narrowed at Kyojuro.

"Can I help you?" Kyojuro called out to him, his smile tightening, but ever so slightly.

The man stepped out from his hiding place, not even bothering to try to hide his presence anymore. His eyes were still narrowed.

"You're upsetting Tamayo-sama..." He murmured, "You... All of you. And when Tamayo-sama gets upset, I get upset. I wouldn't get too comfortable if I were you."

With that, the man walked away, leaving Kyojuro confused.

I honestly didn't want to go out today, but I did anyway. Not really to see the Kamados. Rather, I wanted to loiter around a bit and maybe see more of the village. That's why I left the village earlier than I usually did, and I did everything in my power to make sure the Kamados wouldn't spot me.

I ended up buying a bunch of tempura. More than I needed. I kept wandering off, eating tempura until my stomach hurt, and even then, I had plenty left. I tried offering some to Yorrichi, but he politely declined. I didn't realize I was wandering too far from the village until Yorrichi gently redirected me.

I was about to turn back around when I heard the sound of rustling bushes. I would've brushed it off as some sort of animal if it weren't for the fact that I heard a voice.

"Pig assault, pig assault!"

Yorrichi stepped behind me and prevented Inosuke from running into me. Inosuke fell back against a tree and huffed smoke from the nostrils of his mask.

"Inosuke? What are you doing?" I asked curiously.

"None of your business M/N (Mispronounced Name)!" He shouted as he picked himself up.

"It's Y/N..."

"Whatever you say, M/N!"

I sighed and looked at the remaining tempura in my arms. Based on what I've seen back at the Kamados' house, Inosuke has a never-ending appetite, and he loves tempura. I held out the box to him.

"Want some tempura?" I offered.

Even though his mask covered his face, I could tell he was grinning widely. Without giving me a proper answer, he snatched the box from my hands, threw the mask up to reveal his pretty face, and started gobbling the tempura like a wild animal. I laughed and walked over to him.

"You're getting crumbs all over your face, Inosuke!" I pointed out, wiping them away for him.

He paused his eating and looked at me with wide eyes. It was slight, but a blush dusted over his cheeks. He seemed almost... giddy.

"Well, I should get going," I said, pulling away, "Enjoy the tempura!"

As I walked away, I could almost hear the sound of fluttering butterflies coming from behind me.

✿Sengoku-Era Secrets✿

❥ Chat, please give me scenarios and/or Secrets. I'm lazy and uncreative 😞 (If you give me any, they prolly won't be used in the next chapter since I pre-write them the day before they're supposed to be published)
❥ I think I'm gonna start using [NAME] in my next stories.
