After what felt like an eternity, though it was probably only a couple of minutes, I pulled myself together and returned to the party. When I got back, Yorrichi immediately went over to me.

"Are you alright, Princess?" He asked, his face showing his obvious worry.

I smiled and nodded.

"Yes, I'm fine. I just needed some fresh air, is all."

He seemed hesitant to take that as truth, but he nodded anyway and didn't ask me about it any further. Slowly but surely, the night wore on, and I thought I was going to be able to spend the rest of the night without anyone approaching me. But, when I saw two people walking over to me, that thought went right out the window.

They were the unsightly boy and pretty girl I saw from a few nights ago. I think they told me their names, actually. If I remember correctly... they were Gyutaro and Ume?

"It's so nice to finally have a chance to speak with you properly, Princess!" Ume said excitedly.

"Um... Yeah..." I said awkwardly, glancing away.

Sure, I helped them out when we were children, but why are they so insistent on speaking with me?

"It's okay, Ume... Nii-chan is here..." A young Gyutaro uttered, trying his very best to keep his voice from trembling.

In truth, he was starving, as was his little sister, who laid weakly in his arms. But he didn't want to seem weak in front of her. He needed to be strong! That's what big brothers are for!

"Um...! Excuse me...!"

Gyutaro flinched at the sudden, high-pitched voice. He clutched his sister closer to himself in a protective manner and looked to see who it was. To his surprise, standing in front of him was... the princess? What was the princess doing here of all places?!

"Um... I saw you two sitting here and thought you both would like a meal!" She said, offering them both a small bag.

Gyutaro was hesitant at first, but Ume, having perked up at the scent of the food, slowly sat up and looked at the princess.

"Who...?" She murmured, her words trailing off.

Gyutaro, unable to bear seeing his sister in such a state any longer, quickly snatched the bag and peered inside. There were a bunch of lunch boxes and bottles of water alongside a little pouch. He reached in and opened the pouch, and inside were a couple of coins.

"I know it's not much," the princess said, catching his attention, "But it's the rest I had of my pocket money. I'm sorry I can't do much more. I wish you both the best of wishes."

She bowed before them before turning and running off. Gyutaro and Ume watched the girl go, and, for once in their short lives, they realized that kind people truly did exist.

Gyutaro and Ume had been standing here and talking to me for the rest of the party. I was relieved when it eventually came to a close, and everyone started to leave the palace. They seemed reluctant to go, but as Kibutsuji started to make his leave they quickly followed after.

As soon as everyone left, I sighed and stretched.

"I need a bath..." I murmured to myself, walking down the hallway.

"Wait!"

The call made the two men stop in their tracks. The two looked behind them, and they saw a girl with pink and green hair rushing after them.

"Just one moment, please!"

She caught up to them, not seeming to have broken a sweat, and started talking.

"Let's face it. We all love the princess," she said.

Heterochromia eyes met fiery red ones. They turned back to look at the girl.

"But, there are a couple of people who are... in my way. In all of our ways... So, I decided that maybe we should call a truce! Just for now. We'll work together to get rid of the others, and from there, it's free reign. Deal?"

She held out both of her hands, one for each of them to shake. There was a bit of hesitation before a hand clasped each of hers. In unison, they said, "Deal."
