Debt

I was looking forward to a nice day of sleeping in, but, of course, a suitor just had to come over. And when I went to greet him, I saw... Kibutsuji... Just my luck.

"Why don't we go to the garden, hm?" He asked, his question more of a demand than anything.

He put a hand on the small of my back and practically pushed me towards the garden. When we were alone, he looked down at me and gave me a tight grin.

"You're going to tell me where the Blue Spider Lilies are," he stated.

Every trace of a fake smile that had laced my features disappeared, and in their place was fear.

"No... No, I won't-" I started, but he quickly cut me off.

"It would be a shame if something happened to the emperor or empress... Or perhaps one of the younger princesses, or the prince? Or maybe.. One of those precious friends that you value so much? Maybe... all of them?"

My blood ran cold.

"You wouldn't..." I uttered.

"Oh, but I would, darling. If you continue to refuse me, I'll remove every single person from your life and find the Blue Spider Lily myself. And, while I'm at it, I'll take you, as well."

I clenched my fists. I didn't want to believe him... But what if he was telling the truth? What if... What if he killed my loved ones...?

"Step away."

I've never been so relieved to hear Yorrichi's voice. As he was taller than Kibutsuji, I could see him staring down at him, a blade pressed to the shorter's neck.

For once, Kibutsuji actually looked afraid. As a matter of fact, he always seemed uneasy around Yorrichi. Do they have some sort of history that I don't know about?

Whatever it was, Kibutsuji quickly moved away, his eyes narrowed at Yorrichi before looking at me.

"This isn't over, Princess... I'll get them one way or another..." He promised before walking off.

It was yet another time Yorrichi had gotten me out of a situation, and I was so immensely grateful I couldn't put it into words. I bowed in front of him and smiled.

"Thank you, Yorrichi... It's like you're always saving me. I'll forever be in your debt," I said.

He just looked at me. At one point, he opened his mouth, as if to say something, but it seemed like he talked himself out of it, because he shook his head and shut his mouth.

"No, Princess, it's alright. I am a soldier, after all. It's my duty to protect you," he said.

I nodded, still feeling kinda guilty for not doing anything in return.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about the Blue Spider Lilies ever since Kibutsuji left. Now that I think about it, I haven't been able to see them because Tamayo and Shinobu wouldn't let me. But I'm the one that brought them here in the first place! I should be able to see them!

So, filled with determination, I walked over to the place where the Spider Lilies were being stored. Thankfully, nobody was around, so I slid the door open and walked inside. What I saw... It was beyond what I expected.

The Spider Lilies, once so bright and beautiful, were all shriveled up and devoid of any light. What happened...?

"What an idiotic girl."

'Yushiro?'

That was my last thought before feeling a sharp pain in my neck and everything turning to black.
