TW: Zedaph angst

3rd Person Pov

Zed hums happily to himself as he works on his ravine, digging the space for his next game. The walls of the ravine fade from stone to black. Zed stops his digging, turning around and scanning the darken area.

"Hello little player."

"Who's there? Show yourself."

"Aw come now little player, I just want to have a little chat."

"You're a Watcher, aren't you? What do you want?"

"Oh, you're a smart player, that'll be useful."

Zed draws his sword as the Watcher appears in front of him. The Watcher looks down at Zedaph, a smirk growing across the being's face.

"Hello little player."

"Who. Are. You."

"My name, little player is ∩ᒷ∷ᒲᖋ but you can call me Zerma."

Zed's eyes widen and he takes a step back, hitting the stone wall.

"Aww what's wrong? Have you been told horror stories about me?"

"I know a few things...you hurt Grian and Rykten...you're the reason they had to do that stupid revolution in the first place."

"Hmmm so little Xelqua has told you a few things then."

"We've been cautioned..."

Zerma smirks, taking a step closer, "Aw but he's only told you what you want to hear, what will keep him safe."

"Grian has been nothing but up front and honest with us."

"Has little Xelqua told you what he did as a Watcher? Has he told you one of your little friends is his little pet."

"You're wrong, besides if Grian isn't ready to talk about his past that's fine."

Zed points the sword right at Zerma, the Watcher's smirk only grows, and he runs a finger down the side of the sword.

"Do you know what a gift holder is little player?"

"...No."

"A gift holder is a player turned into what we call Starlings. Weaker than Watchers but stronger than players. These Starlings or gift holders are considered...pets or servants to Watchers. Of course, it's also a way to punish Watchers who start revolutions. Sadly, I lost my little gift holder to Xelqua and now he has two."

"Two?"

"Oh yes, Rykten and that red and white man, Evil Xisuma but I believe you players call him EX."

Zedaph's blood runs cold at the mention of EX. His hold on the sword loosens, heart rate picking up. The Watchers got EX...they touched EX.

"What."

"Oh yes, Xelqua's first gift holder was named EX. I wonder if he's dead yet, most gift holder don't last long and with how powerful Xelqua is I wouldn't be surprised if he's dead."

Zerma moves closer, easily getting the sword out of Zedaph's hand. The sword clatters to the ground, out of either being's reach.

"And now that Rykten is gone I've been looking for a new gift holder."

Zedaph's eyes widen, and he takes a step back.

"Aw don't be afraid little player, it won't hurt me."

"You need to leave, now."

"Hmmm I will, after I've marked my new gift holder."

Zedaph ducks under the Watcher's arm as it reaches for him, hitting the panic button on his communicator as he grabs his sword off the ground. He aims and swings at the Watcher, just as the sword is about it hit it's marked it's stopped by purple ropes wrapping around his wrist, tightly.
