The next day
----------------Jungkook sat in the cafeteria, picking at his lunch while his thoughts continued to swirl around the fan forum and Y/n's new teammate. He tried to focus on his meal and conversation with his friends, but his mind kept drifting back to the posts he'd seen.
As he glanced around the room, his eyes caught sight of you. You were sitting at a table with the guy you'd been shipped with, laughing and chatting animatedly. The two of you seemed completely at ease, your smiles wide and genuine.
Josh, noticing Jungkook's distracted and tense demeanor, leaned in with a concerned look. "Man, you fine? You've been staring over there for a while now."
Jungkook blinked, pulling himself out of his thoughts. "Uh, yeah. Just a bit lost in thought."
Josh followed Jungkook's gaze and saw you with your teammate, sharing a moment of laughter. His eyes widened slightly. "Ah, I see. It's Y/n, isn't it?"
Jungkook nodded, trying to mask his discomfort. "Yeah. Just... didn't expect to see them getting along so well."
"Heard they just started dating," Jay mentioned casually.
"Who said?" Minho asked, looking intrigued.
"Y/n's roommate," Jay replied with a shrug. "She mentioned it in passing."
Jungkook felt a mix of surprise and frustration. "So it's true then? They're actually together?"
Minho raised an eyebrow. "Looks like it. Didn't know Y/n was seeing anyone. It's a bit surprising."
Jungkook tried to steady his emotions, feeling a knot form in his stomach. "Yeah, well, guess I'll just have to focus on my own stuff."
As the first couple of days passed, you noticed a subtle change in your interactions with Jungkook. The playful arguments that once defined your relationship were still there, but they had become much less frequent. It wasn't the same as before—his teasing was lighter, and the bickering didn't last long. You brushed it off at first, thinking maybe he was just focused on the competition.
But then, something shifted completely. The playful arguments stopped altogether. Jungkook no longer sought you out to tease or banter like before. Instead, he began avoiding you, offering only brief nods or simple greetings when necessary. He distanced himself in rehearsals and during free time, steering clear of conversations and making excuses to leave whenever you approached.
The change left you feeling hurt and confused. What had started as subtle shifts in your dynamic had now become a full-blown coldness, and you had no idea why. You missed the warmth of your interactions, even if they had been laced with constant bickering. Now, it felt like you were on opposite sides of an invisible wall.
With all these thoughts swirling in your mind, you lay on your bed, trying to process everything. The door to your room creaked open, and Mia poked her head in with a playful grin.
"Hey, Y/n, you got no date today?" she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
You turned to look at her, confusion etched on your face. "Why would I go on a date?"
"Because you've got a cute boyfriend waiting for you?" Mia replied, raising an eyebrow. "You've been out with him a lot lately."
"What? I don't have a boyfriend," you said, sitting up in bed, bewildered.
