Jimin shifted nervously, glancing around to make sure no guards were near. "Prince, you know if we get caught, it's over," he whispered, his voice tight with concern as he crouched behind Jungkook.
Jungkook, however, was far from worried. A cheeky smile tugged at his lips as his eyes sparkled with mischief. "Only if we get caught," he whispered back, his excitement growing as he noticed a particular room in the castle light up. His heart raced when he saw her—dressed in a nightgown, surrounded by maids, moving gracefully through the room.
"She's so pretty," Jungkook whispered, his eyes sparkling as he gazed at her from the shadows.
Jimin shook his head, his voice low but firm. "And your enemy."
Jungkook scoffed, tearing his eyes away from the scene to look at his friend. "What? No, she could never be my enemy. Our dads just happen to be rivals."
Jimin raised an eyebrow. "Prince, don't act so oblivious. You know this isn't going to work out."
Jungkook sighed, his smile fading slightly. "I know... but at least let me calm my heart from afar, just for a moment." His gaze drifted back to her, soft and longing.
Just then, the rustling of armor and the murmur of voices reached their ears from the nearby garden path. The guards were patrolling, their footsteps crunching over the gravel. Jungkook and Jimin exchanged a glance. There was no time to hesitate. Without a word, Jungkook grabbed Jimin's arm, and they both slipped away from the tree, moving quickly and quietly through the shadows of the garden.
Upon entering back into their kingdom, Jungkook and Jimin moved swiftly, keeping to the shadows as they snuck through the hidden paths that led to the back of Jungkook's castle. It was a secluded spot, rarely visited by anyone, making it the perfect escape route for their late-night adventures.
However, their secretive return was abruptly halted when a commanding voice sliced through the silence.
"Where were you both?"
It was Seokjin, the General Commander of the Celestain Kingdom and one of the most trusted figures in Jungkook's life. His tone was stern, eyes sharp as they landed on the two boys.
Jungkook, ever the quick talker, stepped forward with a grin, ready to weave a story. "Hyung, you se—"
But before he could finish, Seokjin raised a hand, cutting him off. "No, prince. I want Jimin's reply."
Jungkook's grin faltered, and his shoulders slumped. It was no secret that Seokjin didn't trust him to give an honest answer, especially when it came to sneaking out of the castle. Jungkook, being the youngest of four brothers and spoiled from birth, often found ways to bend the rules. Seokjin, though informal with him at the king's request, had always been tasked with keeping Jungkook in line.
Jimin, standing a little stiffly behind Jungkook, glanced nervously at the prince before shifting his gaze to Seokjin. As Jungkook's loyal servant and companion since childhood, Jimin and Jungkook's bond ran deep.
"We... uh... just went for a walk near the borders, Commander," Jimin said carefully, trying to keep his voice steady. He glanced at Jungkook, silently hoping he wouldn't jump in with a more elaborate tale.
