The golden glow of the sun was just beginning to stretch across the quiet village, the fields still wet with the morning dew. The air was thick with the scent of earth and the faint sound of birds chirping in the distance. A small, humble home sat at the edge of a sprawling paddy field, surrounded by the lush greenery that seemed to promise life, yet there was a heaviness in the air inside.

Seokjin, barely in his early teens, stood in front of the small altar where a picture of their late mother rested, draped in flowers. His face, still young, carried the weight of years he had not yet lived. His mother had passed away only months ago, but the pain in his heart felt as fresh as if it had happened yesterday.

His younger sister, Y/n, only a few years old, sat on the floor nearby, her innocent eyes wide and filled with a quiet sadness. She watched as her brother lit a small candle in front of their mother's photo, his hands shaking but determined.

"Eomma..." Seokjin whispered softly, swallowing hard as he straightened up. "I'll take care of everything. I promise you."

Y/n, too young to fully understand the burden her brother had taken on, looked up at him with trust in her eyes. To her, Seokjin wasn't just her brother—he was everything. Her protector, her caretaker, her only family.

The days since their mother's passing had been long and difficult, but Seokjin had already grown up far faster than any child his age should. He worked tirelessly in the fields from dawn to dusk, taking on the responsibilities their parents once carried. His hands, once soft, were now rough with callouses from farming, and his skin darkened by the sun, but he never complained. His only goal was to provide for Y/n and ensure she didn't feel the absence of their mother too much.

The sun bathed the fields in a soft, golden light as the seasons changed, but one thing remained constant—Seokjin's tireless dedication to his 5 year old little sister, you. Years had passed since your mother's death, and though you both had learned to live without her, Seokjin still carried the weight of your small family on his shoulders. You were now a lively young girl, full of curiosity and energy, and Seokjin's love for you had only grown deeper.

Early one morning, Seokjin led you through the vast paddy fields, his hands gently guiding you as you skipped beside him. Your laughter filled the air as you looked up at him with a bright, toothy smile.

"Oppa! Can we go see the horse today?" you begged, tugging at Seokjin's hand, your eyes wide with excitement.

Seokjin smiled warmly, though he still had much work to do. He could never say no to you. "Alright, but just for a little while, okay? You have to go to school afterward."

You wrinkled your nose. "School's boring," you muttered, already trying to avoid the inevitable.

With a chuckle, Seokjin led you to the small stable by the edge of the field, where your old horse stood. The horse had been your favorite since you were a baby. It was an old, gentle creature, its mane soft as you ran your little fingers through it.

"You can play with him for a bit," Seokjin said as he watched you carefully. You climbed onto the wooden fence and reached out to pet the horse, your laughter contagious as the horse nuzzled your hand affectionately.
