Sunoo had been talking about Disneyland for weeks, ever since the announcement of their U.S. tour. Every time he went live, his eyes would light up as he shared his dream of visiting the iconic theme park. He’d go on about the rides, the parades, the food—he’d even joked about how he wanted to buy one of those silly Mickey Mouse ears. It was clear to everyone just how much this meant to him.
The day finally came when they were in America, and Sunoo could hardly contain his excitement. They had one free day before their flight back to Korea, and Sunoo knew exactly how he wanted to spend it. He imagined it all: walking down Main Street, USA, with the members, screaming on Space Mountain, and watching fireworks light up the night sky. It was supposed to be the perfect ending to their tour.
That morning, with a bright smile and an eager tone, Sunoo went to each member, asking if they wanted to join him. He started with Jungwon, who smiled apologetically and said he had a video call scheduled with his family. Next was Heeseung, who was exhausted from the tour and just wanted to rest. Jay had plans to explore some local shops, Jake was engrossed in a movie marathon, and Sunghoon wanted to catch up on sleep. Even Ni-ki, who usually loved theme parks, had plans to meet up with a friend he hadn’t seen in years.
Sunoo’s smile began to fade with each gentle refusal. He tried to stay upbeat, but the idea of going to Disneyland alone didn’t hold the same magic. What fun was it to go without the people he wanted to share it with? So, with a heavy heart, he decided to let it go. Instead of heading out, he stayed back at the hotel, trying to convince himself it wasn’t a big deal.
But the members noticed. They saw how quiet Sunoo had gotten, how the excitement that had been bubbling for weeks had vanished. It felt wrong to see him, who was usually the one lifting everyone’s spirits, looking so down.
Later that day, as Sunoo sat on his bed, half-heartedly scrolling through his phone, there was a knock at his door. When he opened it, he was met with all six members standing there, dressed casually with big smiles on their faces.
“Get dressed,” Jungwon said, holding up a pair of Mickey Mouse ears. “We’re going to Disneyland.”
Sunoo blinked, his heart skipping a beat. “But I thought—”
“We couldn’t let you go alone,” Heeseung interrupted, giving him a playful nudge. “It wouldn’t be the same without us, right?”
Sunoo’s eyes filled with tears as the realization hit him. They had changed their plans just for him. They hadn’t wanted him to miss out on something he’d been so excited about, especially not because of them.
With a wide grin, Sunoo quickly got ready, feeling the excitement bubble up inside him again. They all piled into a van, laughing and joking the whole way there. When they arrived, it was everything Sunoo had dreamed of and more. They ran from ride to ride, screamed their lungs out on the roller coasters, and took countless pictures with the characters. They even convinced Sunghoon to wear the Mickey ears for a picture, much to everyone’s amusement.
As the sun set, they found a spot to watch the fireworks. Sunoo stood there, surrounded by his best friends, feeling a warmth in his heart that he couldn’t put into words. The fireworks exploded overhead, lighting up the sky in brilliant colors, and Sunoo couldn’t help but smile. It was the perfect ending to their tour, not because of Disneyland itself, but because of the memories they made together.
On the way back to the hotel, Sunoo leaned his head against the window, a content smile on his face. The day hadn’t started the way he’d hoped, but it had turned into something even better. The members had shown him just how much he meant to them, and that was the true magic of the day.
As they arrived back at the hotel, Sunoo looked around at the tired but happy faces of his friends. “Thank you,” he said softly, his voice full of gratitude.
Jungwon grinned, slinging an arm around his shoulders. “We wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
And with that, Sunoo knew that no matter where they went, as long as they were together, every day could be as magical as Disneyland.
