It was a rare day off for ENHYPEN, and Sunoo had decided to step out for a quick snack run. The members were all scattered around their dorm, either catching up on sleep, playing games, or just enjoying the peace and quiet. Sunoo had left with his usual bright smile, promising to be back soon with their favorite treats.
A couple of hours passed, and Sunoo still hadn't returned. At first, no one was too worried. Sunoo was known to get distracted easily, especially if he stumbled upon something interesting or found a new café to try. But as time ticked on, an uneasy feeling started to settle over the dorm. Jay, always observant, was the first to voice it. "Is it just me, or is Sunoo taking longer than usual?"
Jungwon looked up from his book, frowning. "Yeah, he should have been back by now. Did anyone get a text from him?"
Everyone checked their phones, but there was nothing. Just a string of unanswered messages they had sent in their group chat, filled with playful complaints about Sunoo taking too long and threats to eat all the snacks themselves if he didn't hurry back.
The mood shifted quickly. Heeseung tried to call Sunoo, but it went straight to voicemail. He tried again, a bit more forcefully this time, his forehead creasing with worry. Ni-ki was pacing by now, his usual calm demeanor gone. "This isn't like him," he muttered, glancing out the window as if he could spot Sunoo somewhere on the street.
Then, the phone rang. It wasn't Sunoo's number, but a private number. Everyone froze. Jungwon answered it, his voice steady but tinged with a hint of worry.
"Hello?" he said, gripping the phone tightly.
"Hello, is this the family or guardian of Kim Sunoo?" The voice on the other end was professional but serious. Jungwon's heart dropped.
"Yes, I'm... I'm his leader," he replied, his voice shaking slightly. The members gathered around him, sensing that something wasn't right.
"I'm calling from the hospital," the voice continued. "There's been an accident. Sunoo was brought in a little while ago. He's stable, but he's sustained some injuries. It would be best if someone could come down here immediately."
Jungwon didn't even let the call end properly before he was up, grabbing his jacket and shoes. The rest of the members were already moving, grabbing whatever they could find. Panic set in like a wave, washing over the dorm as they quickly made their way to the hospital.
The ride there felt like an eternity. Heeseung kept his eyes fixed on the road, driving faster than he probably should have, while Jay was on the phone with their manager, explaining the situation. Sunghoon was uncharacteristically silent, his hands clenched tightly in his lap. Ni-ki stared out the window, his jaw set, fighting to keep his composure.
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, they rushed inside. "Kim Sunoo," Jungwon blurted out to the nurse at the front desk. "We're here for Kim Sunoo."
The nurse nodded, recognizing their frantic expressions. "He's in room 203, second floor. The doctor will be with you shortly."
They raced up the stairs, their hearts pounding with fear. They reached the door and hesitated for just a second before pushing it open.
Sunoo lay on the bed, looking far too pale against the white sheets. His arm was in a cast, and there were a few cuts and bruises on his face. He looked fragile, his usual brightness dulled by exhaustion and pain. But he was awake, his eyes fluttering open as he heard the door.
"Hyungs..." Sunoo's voice was soft, and despite everything, he managed a small smile. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to worry you."
Heeseung was the first to move, crossing the room in two quick strides and gently ruffling Sunoo's hair. "Don't ever scare us like that again," he said, his voice low but firm, the relief evident in his tone. "We thought... we thought something terrible happened."
Sunghoon's eyes were glassy as he sat down next to Sunoo, gently taking his uninjured hand. "You're okay, that's all that matters," he whispered, his voice tight with emotion.
Ni-ki, usually the composed one, looked like he was holding back tears. "You have no idea how scared we were," he said, his voice cracking slightly. "Don't ever do this again."
Sunoo chuckled weakly, trying to lighten the mood despite the pain. "You guys... you're acting like I'm on my deathbed. I'm okay, really."
Jungwon, still shaken, finally spoke. "You better be," he said, his voice wavering. "You have to promise us you'll be more careful from now on."
Sunoo nodded, his smile growing a little wider. "I promise," he whispered. "I won't scare you guys again."
As they sat around his bed, each of them taking turns to hold his hand, Sunoo realized just how much they all cared. The fear and worry etched into their faces showed how deep their bond went. Despite the pain and the scare, Sunoo felt a wave of warmth wash over him, knowing he wasn't alone—he had his family right there beside him.
