The music thumped through the speakers as ENHYPEN performed flawlessly on stage, moving in perfect synchronization. Their energy was palpable, and the audience roared with excitement. Sunoo, always with a bright smile, kept up with the choreography, but as the performance neared its peak, he felt a sharp pain shoot through his ankle during one of the spins.
He winced but quickly hid the discomfort, determined not to let the team or the audience down. Sunoo's ankle throbbed, but he pushed through the pain, focusing on keeping his movements sharp and in sync. He could feel his muscles straining, but his mind was solely focused on making it to the end of the performance without showing any signs of distress.
Jungwon, ever the leader, caught a slight change in Sunoo's expression, noticing the way he was favoring his other leg. But with the adrenaline rushing and the performance still in full swing, he didn't think much of it—maybe Sunoo was just tired.
As they powered through their final dance break, Sunghoon, who often performed near Sunoo in formations, also felt something was off. Sunoo's usual light steps seemed a bit heavier, more hesitant. Sunghoon shot him a quick glance, but Sunoo gave a reassuring smile, one that said, "I'm fine."
Ni-ki, focused on nailing the dance, noticed too. He was always observant, and while he was the youngest, he had a sharp eye. His gaze flickered toward Sunoo, watching closely, but the song was reaching its climax, and there was no time to check in.
Jake, who was dancing closer to the center but always kept a peripheral eye on the members, noticed Sunoo's uneven steps. A worried frown crept onto his face, but just like the others, he had no chance to stop and ask as they were already nearing the end.
By the time the final notes echoed through the venue and the cheers reached their peak, ENHYPEN posed for the ending formation. As soon as the stage lights dimmed, they all broke their poses, panting and sharing subtle glances, signaling a job well done. The fans were going wild, and the boys waved, soaking in the applause. Sunoo stood with the others, clapping for their audience, but each passing second made the pain in his ankle more unbearable.
Just as they were about to walk off stage, Sunoo's body betrayed him. His legs buckled, and before anyone realized what was happening, he collapsed onto the ground, clutching his ankle. The sudden movement shocked everyone—especially the members.
"Sunoo!" Sunghoon was the first to rush to his side, his voice filled with panic. He kneeled next to him, placing a hand on his back while trying to assess what was wrong.
"Are you okay?" Jungwon knelt down immediately, his leadership instincts kicking in. He scanned Sunoo's face, noticing the pain etched across his features.
Heeseung, usually calm, was already waving for the staff to come and help. "We need the medics, now!"
Jay crouched down next to Sunghoon, his face tight with concern. "Why didn't you say anything, Sunoo?" he asked softly, his voice betraying the worry he felt for his friend.
Jake dropped down beside Sunoo, his hand gently gripping Sunoo's arm as he searched his face. "Sunoo, you should've told us sooner," Jake said, his Australian accent softening the reprimand, though his worry was evident.
Sunoo shook his head, trying to catch his breath. "I didn't... want to ruin the performance," he muttered, tears pricking the edges of his eyes as the adrenaline started to wear off, making the pain more pronounced.
Ni-ki stayed close by, biting his lip in worry. Even though he was the youngest, his maturity was evident in the way he stayed calm. He placed a hand on Sunoo's shoulder, reassuring him silently. "We could've helped," Ni-ki whispered, a hint of frustration in his tone.
Sunghoon carefully helped him sit up, eyes wide with concern. "You shouldn't have pushed through like that. What if it had gotten worse?"
The staff finally rushed over with a medic, and Sunoo winced as they inspected his ankle. "It hurts a lot," he admitted through clenched teeth.
Sunghoon kept a steady hand on Sunoo's shoulder, as if to silently say, "I've got you." Heeseung and Jungwon stood close, their eyes never leaving their injured member.
"How bad is it?" Jungwon asked the medic.
"It looks like a sprain. We'll need to get him to the clinic for further examination," the medic replied.
Jay and Ni-ki exchanged a glance, both relieved it wasn't something worse but still visibly upset that Sunoo had to endure the pain through the whole performance.
Jake gently squeezed Sunoo's arm. "It's gonna be okay," he reassured him, his voice calm and soothing.
"Let's get him backstage," Heeseung suggested. Sunghoon and Jay carefully helped lift Sunoo onto his feet, though he could barely put any weight on his injured leg. Jake stayed close, ready to support him if he stumbled again.
As they slowly made their way offstage, Sunoo glanced at the other members. "Sorry, guys," he murmured, his voice barely audible.
Heeseung shook his head firmly. "You don't ever have to apologize for something like this. We're a team—if one of us is hurt, we're all hurt."
Jungwon nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Next time, let us know right away. Your health comes first."
Sunghoon added quietly, "We're just glad you're okay now. Don't do that again."
Ni-ki, walking beside them, chimed in, "You always try to act tough, Sunoo, but we're here to help."
Jake, who had been silently supportive, finally spoke again. "Yeah, Sunoo. We'd rather stop a performance than see you hurt."
As they finally reached backstage, Sunoo was laid down on a couch, still wincing from the pain, but now surrounded by his members who were all hovering over him with concern. The medic began wrapping his ankle, and Sunoo couldn't help but smile a little through the pain, feeling grateful for his teammates.
Sunghoon sat by his side, watching closely, and said in a softer tone, "Next time, just let us know. No performance is worth hurting yourself like this."
Sunoo, feeling the exhaustion wash over him now that the adrenaline had faded, looked up at his members and nodded. "I will," he promised, "but thanks for always having my back."
Heeseung gave him a pat on the head, and Jay, who had stayed quietly by his side, finally let out a small sigh of relief. "Good. Now rest, Sunoo. You've earned it."
Jake smiled softly. "We'll make sure you don't have to walk around too much."
Sunoo closed his eyes, feeling safe and protected, knowing he didn't have to carry everything on his own anymore. His ankle still throbbed, but surrounded by the concern and care of his members, the pain seemed just a little more bearable.
