Start writing your story The performance ended with a final blast of fireworks, and the members gave a synchronized bow, waves, and smiles to the crowd. They were visibly exhausted but fulfilled, drenched in sweat, and their hearts racing from the adrenaline. Sunoo was grinning, catching his breath as he turned to walk backstage with his members. But just as they stepped away from the stage, he felt something strange in his left ear—an odd, muted pop.
It happened so quickly. The sound went from muffled to painfully loud, a piercing screech that filled his earpiece. His eyes widened as he felt an immediate, throbbing pain reverberate inside his skull. He pulled the earpiece out, wincing as the pain intensified, and then... warmth. His fingers came away stained with blood.
The other members hadn't noticed yet. They were still thanking staff and laughing among themselves, their focus on the successful performance and eager to go backstage and rest. Sunoo, however, stumbled slightly, feeling dizzy. He couldn't keep up with their pace; everything felt like it was spinning.
"Sunoo, you good?" Heeseung's voice cut through the noise, noticing Sunoo had fallen a few steps behind.
Sunoo tried to answer, but the pain was too much. His vision blurred, and his head throbbed as if it were being squeezed from the inside. The world around him seemed distant, voices fading in and out. The pounding in his head was relentless, and it felt like each pulse was making the pain sharper. Before he knew it, he dropped to his knees, clutching his head as his face twisted in agony.
"Sunoo!" Jungwon yelled, suddenly aware of what was happening.
Within seconds, the members surrounded him, panic etched on their faces. Ni-ki knelt beside him, his hands hovering, unsure if he should touch Sunoo or not. He looked helplessly at Sunghoon, his own face pale.
"He's bleeding... from his ear," Jay stammered, his voice thick with fear. "Oh, my God, Sunoo!"
Sunghoon reached out, gently placing a hand on Sunoo's back. "Sunoo, what happened? Can you hear us?" he asked, his tone soft but frantic.
Sunoo could barely respond; the pain was too consuming. All he managed was a faint, shaky whisper. "M-My ear... it hurts... my head..."
The backstage area was in chaos. Staff members rushed over, some calling for the on-site medic, while others tried to give the members some space to help Sunoo. Heeseung wrapped an arm around Sunoo, supporting his weight as the younger boy leaned into him, clutching his head with trembling hands. Sunoo's breaths came in shallow gasps, the pain overwhelming.
"Please, stay with us, Sunoo," Heeseung urged, his voice tight with worry.
The medic arrived quickly, taking in the sight of Sunoo with widened eyes. They gently examined him, carefully pressing around his ear to check the injury while he winced. The blood flow had slowed, but Sunoo still felt the relentless pounding in his head. He was exhausted, barely able to keep his eyes open.
The other members looked on, each one helplessly watching their friend and bandmate. Ni-ki had tears in his eyes, his usual calm demeanor shattered. Jay's hands were clenched into fists, and Sunghoon's lips were pressed together, as if he was forcing himself to stay calm. Jungwon kept whispering reassurances to Sunoo, telling him it would be okay, that help was here now.
After what felt like an eternity, the medic administered some pain relief and assured them that the ear injury wasn't as severe as it looked. The bleeding had stopped, and although Sunoo was still in pain, the pounding in his head began to subside as the medication took effect. The medic advised rest and promised to follow up to ensure there was no lasting damage.
Sunoo's breathing began to even out, and he managed a small, tired smile at his members. "Sorry for... scaring you guys," he murmured, his voice still weak.
Jungwon shook his head. "Don't apologize, Sunoo. We're just glad you're okay," he said, his voice thick with relief.
The members helped him up slowly, keeping a steady hand on him as they guided him back to the waiting area, insisting he rest on one of the couches. They stayed close, watching over him with expressions that were still laced with worry, but there was a collective sigh of relief as Sunoo closed his eyes and managed to rest, surrounded by the warmth of his friends.
