After half an hour spent convincing Zach the only way he could watch me in court today is if he had written approval from both sides which is almost impossible, I finally made it to the court room alone after a quick detour to my apartment to change.

Luckily, I have had my trial outfit picked for this case for a week now, so I didn't have a crisis like I do on a normal work day. It's a simple black midi work dress with a grey blazer over the top. I'd straightened my hair, put on some simple makeup and thrown on my black court louboutins before rushing out the door towards the court.

Arriving pretty much on time, I secure a conference room and place my stuff down before heading back to the lobby to collect my client.

I lead her to the room and we both settle into our chairs after I shut the door behind me.

It's a small room, only really big enough for up to four people. There's a small oak table taking up most of the room, with worn, wooden chairs surrounding it.

I look to my client, smiling empathetically as I observe her worried, nervous face. She's a small, frail woman who has been utterly consumed by this case, and it shows from the weight she's lost.

She can't be much older than me, but her auburn hair is thin despite being straightened and tied into a tight bun.

I know that side effect all too well.

"Good morning, Ciara," I smile at her, watching as she relaxes at the confidence in my voice, "I have a good feeling about this."

"Morning, Carlie. I just want all of this to be over," she smiles shyly back.

I nod my head and start to recap the court process that will occur today, making sure she is fully prepped.

After about thirty minutes of running through each step until she is comfortable with what's going to happen, the court clerk comes to fetch us, leading us to the court room.

Despite it being a private hearing, we have been allocated a larger court room than the typical smaller ones used in cases such as this.

The room is classically old-fashioned, with the dark wooden accents of the room overwhelming the place with preserved history.

I lead Ciara to our table in front of the judge's bench and we sit down. I settle my papers around me, making sure they are strategically lined up in order of use, whilst also shielded to the defence so they cannot know my game plan.

The other side walk in a few minutes later, a nervous looking fresh-faced lawyer with his sleazy client trailing behind him. He smirks at my client, making me narrow my eyes as I glare at him.

"It's okay," I whisper to Ciara as I turn my attention to her, realising she looks visibly rattled by his presence.

Before I can comfort her more, the sound of two doors opening alerts me to the entrance of the judge.
