"Do you think I should drive the point home with the hospital bills she had to endure?" I ask Hannah who sits cross-legged on the sofa in my office, watching me intently as I pace the room.
I'm practising my speech for trial tomorrow, trying it out on here to polish it up.
"Yeah, it'll only give the judge more reason to award more money," she nods her head as she reads over my notes.
I drop into the seat next to her and sigh, feeling exhausted as the weight of the trial weighs on my chest like an anvil.
"Do you need tea?" she asks me as I slide my hand over my face.
"No," I mutter as I close my eyes.
My head is spinning.
Migraine, migraine, not today.
Migraine, migraine go away.
"Are you ill? You do realise you just refused a cup of tea?" she presses the back of her hand against my forehead, checking for a temperature.
"I'm fine," I sigh, "Just... tired."
I open my eyes to see her staring at me, not one freckle of being convinced showing on her face.
"No that's not it," she purses her lips and raises her eyebrows in expectation.
"Just something happened last night," I confess, keeping my voice low, "Callum pulled me into a room, and..."
I trail off as she sits up in her seat, excitement on her face.
I shake my head, causing pain to radiate throughout.
Fuck, guess the migraine is making an entrance today.
She opens her mouth to say something but closes it as her eyes fall on something through the glass walls of my office. I follow her gaze, my eyes widening when I see the three Ashford brothers sauntering to my office.
"Shit," I mutter. I sit up and stare at my surroundings, seeing the endless amount of papers and files on the floor.
We both start frantically cleaning them up, careful to preserve my client's confidentiality before they reach my door.
We manage to get it into five neat piles of binders and sheets of paper by the time they storm in.
"So this is what you're doing," Elijah says as he walks into the room, his face and voice void of any emotion.
I nod my head and stand up, wincing slightly as a sharp volt pushes through my brain.
"I have a trial tomorrow that I need to be prepared for," I explain in my most professional voice.
I circle my desk and sit down, pulling a box of painkillers out of my top drawer. Looking up, I see Hannah has slipped out whilst Zach has sat leisurely on my sofa. He grins at me widely and I can't help but be infected by his addictive smile.
