As soon as I got home, I crawled into bed

As soon as I got home, I crawled into bed.

And I've stayed there the whole weekend.

Only when Monday rolls around do I actually climb out of my nest.

I take a quick shower and dry my hair. I style it into soft curls. I put it into a neat high ponytail and add some simple makeup to my tired face. Heading to my wardrobe, I put on a simple pair of cinched black work trousers and a white sleeveless blouse.

I slide into my black patent heels and throw on my Burberry trench coat before heading out the door.

As soon as I reach my office, I smile when I see a cup of tea already waiting on my desk.

She's good.

When I told Hannah about what happened with Callum in the ladies bathroom, she was ready to march over to Ashford Inc to confront the man. When I finally calmed her down, she spent Saturday tucked up in bed with me, surrounded by blankets and comfort food.

"Hey, how you feeling?" she walks into my office as I sit down and kick off my heels, exchanging them for my trusty work slippers. They're fluffy and pink.

"I'm good," I take a sip of my tea, "Thanks for this, by the way."

"Well I thought it would soften the news," she sits down in the chair opposite me, apprehension heavy in her facial features.

"What news?" I narrow my eyes at her, still holding onto my mug with both hands.

"The Ashfords have arranged a meeting this afternoon... with you," she blurts out in one breath. I stare at her, blinking rapidly as my hands tighten around the mug. She bites her lip, sitting back as she waits for my response, which doesn't happen for a few minutes.

"Why?" My voice comes out as more of a squeak, surprising myself.

"They just said they needed to see you alone," she responds, her face turning into concern for me.

I clear my throat and shake the thoughts of seeing Callum out of my head.

"I'll be fine," I give her a weak smile and turn to my laptop. She nods and gets up, walking out to leave me to register the fact I have to see him.

I try to distract myself, answering to emails and typing up my court notes from last week's hearing.

After a few hours, Hannah knocks on my door with a warning look in her eyes.

"They here?" I ask her. She nods and I take a deep breath, swapping my shoes back to heels and standing up.

As I walk out my office, Hannah grabs my arm and tugs me closer.

"Just say the word and I'll smack the living shit out of the tall, handsome man," she whispers. I smile at her, knowing full well she would do it if I gave her permission.
