I hate this time of year.
The annual client ball.
It always sucks.
I take a sip of my red wine as I straighten out my dress in my floor length mirror.
It's a simple looking long black dress from the front but the back... well... it's the showstopper.
It is completely backless, with a deep v at the bottom, leading into a ruched bum. The thin straps are tied into two bows on my shoulders, which cascade down my back.
I've tied my blonde hair into a bun at the top of my head with strands dangling down to frame my face.
Finally, I've added an oxblood red lip as well as a full face of makeup, heavy with bronzer.
I've always been a bronzer girl.
Adding some small gold hoops to my ears, I take in my full appearance, sighing in satisfaction at my put-together outfit.
I don't look half-bad.
Finishing the outfit off with my black YSL open-toe heels, I put my trench coat over it and head out the door, grabbing my black clutch as I go.
I take a taxi to the grand hall where the ball is being held, and bounce my leg for the whole ride there.
As I climb out, I hold my clutch over my head to cover my hair from the classic English rain as I try to run gracefully inside.
I push through the golden 10ft doors into a large foyer, lined with arches and white flower arrangements.
A kind woman greets me and takes my coat whilst another offers me a glass of champagne which I gladly take.
I'm led into the ballroom, which takes my breath away by the grand size of it. A glass chandelier, bigger than my bathroom, hangs from the centre of the ceiling whilst the arches from the foyer continue on each side of the room.
Small tables covered in white cloth are dotted around, with people gathered around them socialising and drinking.
I take a sip of my champagne to calm my nerves before scouting out Hannah amongst the crowd of wealthy individuals.
I hear her bubbly laugh a few metres from me and I make it my mission to find her. As I walk towards the sound of her voice, her ginger hair comes into view.
"Hey, gorgeous," I greet her as I finally reach her. I kiss both her cheeks before stepping back to admire her outfit.
She's wearing a khaki green silk ballgown that brings out the green in her eyes. Her hair is twisted into a low slicked back bun and her makeup looks miles better than mine.
"You look amazing, Han," I compliment her. She scoffs before twirling me around.
"So do you," she replies, making me giggle as she spins me.
