TRIGGER WARNING: DESCRIPTION OF RAPE

I take a deep breath, exhaling harshly as I push the door to my office open.

The events of Saturday night ambush my head, making me feel dizzy from their intoxicating effect.

Placing my tote bag on my desk, I sit down in my chair and close my eyes, taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm my anxiety.

It doesn't work, though, and I have to resort to pushing it to the back of my mind whilst I respond to some urgent emails.

Hannah comes into my office at some point, bearing a cup of tea, but I am too ashamed and confused to look at her. She leaves without saying anything but I can tell she wanted to.

I slept with a client.

Three of them.

At the same time?

By the time lunch rolls around, my stomach is twisting with nausea. The thought of food makes me want to hurl so I power through until the moon is peeking through the windows.

My light remains the only one on in the whole office, the thought of everyone being at home oddly relaxing me.

Emerging myself in work has helped me ignore the Ashford brothers, the preparation for a settlement agreement next week being a surprising saviour in my life.

I spend hours typing away, correcting the employer's proposed contract to make sure my client gets the best possible settlement award possible.

By the time I shut my laptop, it's well past 9pm. I put it into my bag, making a plan to work from home tomorrow.

Nothing says being a corporate girl more than working in your bed.

I shut off the lights in my office and head out, the eery silence of the office making me feel a paradox of relaxation and anxiety.

I step into the lift, pressing the button to the basement. My heart rate begins to lessen as the doors shut, only to spike up when a hand wedges between, halting them.

I smile politely, as my boss joins me in the elevator.

"Hello, Charles," I greet him.

"Late night, Carlie?" he asks me, his eyes scanning my body perversely. I fight back a shudder at his predatory gaze.

"Got carried away with a settlement agreement."

My eyes widen as he presses the emergency button, halting the lift from moving. I try not to think about the fact I am suspended in a box  in the air with him, but fail miserably.

"That's why you're my best worker," he steps towards me with dark eyes, his wrinkly hand stroking my arm through my trench coat.

"Um, I'm not sure this is entirely appropriate, Charles," I stutter, trying to create space between us as I step back. He follows me, cornering me between him and the wall of the lift.
