I share his DNA, but we're not the same.
So tell me why I'm showing up with flowers, trying to fix his mistakes?
My foot taps against the elevator floor as I ride up to her level. My nerves run through my body, each part of me hoping and praying she will forgive him.
So she will come back to us.
The elevator doors open and I walk through, painting on my signature smile as I pass the receptionist. Her eyes fall to the large bunch of purple freesias and white roses. She blushes, looking down as I wink at her.
When I reach Carlie's office door, I pause and turn around, meeting Hannah's burning eyes. Her face is cold, her arms crossed, but her eyes express a softness.
She wants this to work out for Carlie.
Knocking twice on the door, I push it slightly ajar to see Carlie sitting at her desk. She's busy scribbling down something on a notepad, giving me a moment to actually look at her.
Her black-rimmed glasses sit low on her nose, her hair pulled into a messy ponytail and eyebrows bunched together. I watch as her beautiful blue eyes read over her words quickly before her hand continues to scribble. My eyes fall to her white short-sleeved blouse, giving a slight reveal to her bunched up breasts.
She's flawless.
Her eyes meet mine, surprise flickering over them as I push the door fully open and walk in.
"Wh-" she starts to say but stops when she sees the flowers in my hand. I smile at her and place them on her desk, sitting down in the chair opposite her.
"Hi," I smile, my voice soft.
"What are these?" she keeps her eyes on them, not touching them but her eyes analysing them with shock.
"Callum told us."
Her eyes flicker up to me, coldness hiding the hurt in her eyes. My heart breaks seeing her like this.
"So these are to make up for his actions?" she asks, her voice accusatory.
"Not at all," I jump in quickly, "that useless fuck can make up for his own actions." She smiles slightly before correcting herself.
"They're because you should have never have been subjected to feeling like that. I wanted to make sure you're okay," I let her see the truth and vulnerability in my eyes, hers softening as a result.
"Thank you," she looks down at them, her voice quiet as she finally picks them up. I watch as she sniffs them, her eyes lighting up at the floral scent.
She moves them to the top of the filing cabinet behind her desk before turning around again to face me.
