Rajveer was caught off-guard with her sudden reaction and gets restless as he processes what just happened. He saw fear in his tiny wife's eyes making him wonder what suddenly made her scared when she was smiling with him seconds ago.

Did I scare her? But when? I have tried to make sure she was comfortable.
Then what happened?

"Rajveer... Is she okay?", his mom asks in a hushed tone coming close to him and he realises everyone had their eyes on him.

"Ahmm... Yeah. I guess she just felt shy. I'll check on her you guys continue", he assures his mom with a smile not wanting to gather unnecessary attention and dashes off.
..................................

Running to her room, Ahana rushed into the washroom and locked the door behind her. Her hands and legs shook uncontrollably, and her breath came in ragged gasps. Her face, pale and stricken, reflected the fear that had taken hold of her. Just one glimpse of him had turned her world upside down, sending her thoughts spiraling in confusion.

She gripped the cold ceramic sink, her knuckles white, trying to steady her trembling body. As she struggled to take deep, shaky breaths, the panic threatened to overwhelm her.

In her festiness, she opens the tap and bows a little splashing the cold water on her face. Her lips gasping for air while tears spill out her eyes, hiding behind the water. "He's your past Ahana... he is a bad nightmare. See the new morning and forget about that dream", she tries to coo herself, wiping her face roughly with the back of her hand.

"But how did he come here? Was he... No.. Why will he search me?", she asks herself doubtfully, staring at the mirror.

Her eyes were red and face grasped with confusion. Her heart beat slow and steady as flashback of their last meet tries to consume her thoughts.

*knock* *knock*

The chain of riverie halts and she stirs up at her place feeling startled with the sudden knock. Her face is paling as she thinks it's him and was about to take a step backward when a voice from the other side stills the havoc inside her.

"Are you okay? Do you need any help?", a manly voice, soothes her ear and she lets out a heavy sigh. "Ahana... did I do anything wrong?", he asks with hesitation.

A soft smile pops at her face seeing the concern and softness depicting through his voice though he has a gravelly tone. While her name rolling out of his tongue just made her heart skip a beat. It's his first time he took her name and for the first time she felt like her name was some magical spell.

"Ahmm... I'm sorry if I..", he was about to stay further feeling he was the cause of her tension. "No.. you didn't do anything", she quickly clears his misunderstanding and opens the door.

A blow of wind filled with relief hits his face as he sees Ahana perfectly fine standing infront of him. He thanks the Almighty in his head while his eyes for his own contentment scans through her face. The faint seal of the moistness in her eyes seems to grope his attention when Ahana tantalizing it beforehand decides to distract his attention from it.

"Umh.. I'm sorry I came from there in hasty. So sorry... Actually I--", she feels stuck to come up with an excuse making Rajveer squint his eyes at her. And she gulps hard, afraid he might smell the lie. "You--", he ushers to speak.

"I came here because my saree seemed to loosen and was about to fall. And I was afraid I would embarrass myself in front of so many people. So, I...", she blurts whatever came to her mouth first and Rajveer gasped.

"Oh.. it's okay", he felt out of words and finally let the topic slide down with awkwardness in the air. While Ahana sighs deeply in relief knowing though she blurt nonsense it did make sense out of it. "Let's go...", she chirps.

"Are you sure? You can change in something else if you want. I can wait!", he says and Ahana feels blessed for some foreign reasons. "No.. I'm good!", she replies with a charming smile making Rajveer caught in it for a second. His eyes glow up seeing that pretty heart melting smile of hers and he quickly looks away.

-----------------------

Walking out of the room, Ahana slowly starts gluing herself to Rajveer. Her fingers wrapped around his arms tightly as if she would be lost if she let him go. Her chest falls up and down rhythmically as her heart beats dramatically slowly while her eyes scan around the hall room. Her whole system is alert not wanting to bump with the one she wants to run away from. And forgets to notice the concerned pair of eyes staring at her.

What's wrong with her?

She is indeed acting strange. Now, I'm sure the reason she gave inside wasn't true. Something did disturb her, but what?

Unable to hold himself, he places his palm over her clutched hands. But she flinched at his touch and looked no less than a scared cat. "It's me, relax!", he informs and she sighs out in ease. "Why do you look so disturbed? Is there any issue?", he asks turning towards her fully and she peers up at his face.

Yes. It is. But unfortunately I can't tell you now; but one day I'll surely let you know. Please give me some time!

"Ahana...", he calls her name seeing her zoning out. "Yes... I'm good. I was just... Umh.. leave it. Let's go!", brushing off the topic she simply smiles at him and he sighs before walking near to everyone.

When her eyes lands on Rajni and Veer dancing, lost in each other's eyes. "Wow... They look so beautiful together!", she compliments feeling awe and breaks her knuckles on her head to safeguard them from evil eyes. Rajveer finds her act cute and chuckles internally with a sense of contentment that she was finally relaxed.

"You look prettier when you smile. Cute!", he says in his head.

Soon, the hall room fills with the clapping sound and Ahana quickly runs to her in-laws side. "You both look so perfect together. I couldn't take my eyes off from you at all", she chirps making them giggle at her words. "That's why we are still together I guess", Veer jokes and Rajni slaps his arms lightly making Ahana chuckle.

"Dear... Are you okay now? Why did you leave like that?", Rajni asks making Ahana's smile drop a little. But before they could worry more she repeats the same excuse she gave to Rajveer. "Oh my poor baby! Why are you still wearing this then? You could have changed into something more comfortable?", Rajni asks and Ahana smoothly calms her down.
-------------------

The sun was set painting the white canvas of sky in pinkish orange. The faint appearance of moon twinkles at the sky excited to make his debut again. The guests slowly started retrieving to their homes.

"Ahana...", her mother-in-law calls her. "Yes mom..", she chimes.

With Rajni and her friends group she totally forgot about all her worries and enjoyed the rest of her party to the fullest.

"Go get ready! Don't you want to go home?", she asks with a pleasant smile but Ahana's smile wash off her face. "Home?", she says more like a question to herself.

Which home, mom? You all are my only family from now onwards.

"Ahana.. go", she ushers and Ahana passes a small nod before disappearing to her room with a deep thought.
