Ahana was peacefully slumbering, her cute pout evident as loose strands of hair lay scattered on her pillow, some falling onto her neck and face. She was in such a deep sleep that it seemed like the world could end, and her only wish was to enjoy a good, restful night. Meanwhile, Rajveer stirred awake due to the vibration of his phone, interrupting his rest.

Being a light sleeper, he squinted his eyes half-open and reached out for his phone. Taking a deep breath, he slowly opened his eyes to see Manoj calling him. An annoyed expression crossed his face as he found himself wishing to be free of this man, Manoj, for once in a long time.

Internally groaning, he ended the call and texted, "Please let me be for today; handle everything without me." Then he powered off his phone.

"I was sleeping so peacefully; who knows what catastrophe arose that prompted him to disturb my rest?” Rajveer grumbled as he pulled the duvet to his shoulders and turned to his right, only to feel time stop.

His little wife lay asleep, looking so adorable that his heart skipped a beat. His sleep was gone, and his breath hitched as he stared at her face.

"Like an angel!" he muttered, bluntly.

His eyes softened while something stirred within him.

"How can someone look so cute just by sleeping?" he pondered.

As Ahana snuggled into the pillow between them and flung her arms out, she inadvertently grasped his wrist. She sought his warmth, tightening her grip, making Rajveer swallow hard.

"Am I already falling for her?" he asked himself, unable to tear his gaze away from her.

His other hand moved instinctively to her cheek, tucking behind the hair that obstructed his view. "This morning is absolutely the best for me," he said with a bright smile, cupping her face gently. "Marrying you was undoubtedly a good choice; I truly believe that."

With a smile, he continued gazing at her until sleepiness overtook him again, drawing him back into slumber. Ahana continued to hold his hand while the other rested over her arms on the pillows.

At 2 PM, Ahana finally awakened, feeling refreshed and lively. A wide smile stretched across her face as she experienced the most restful sleep in ages, carefree. After lying there for a few moments, she took a deep breath and rose to find Rajveer still asleep. His face radiated bliss, causing her to smile softly.

"It’s only been 24 hours and a little more, yet I already feel as though I’ve known you forever," she mumbled. "Perhaps we’re destined to be together," she added.

"My so-called parents, for once, did something good for me," her smile dimmed.

A wave of sadness suddenly crossed her face as bitter memories of her parents' harsh words and the disdain in their eyes for her resurfaced. Her heart ached painfully, and tears began to well in her eyes.

"My family..." she said mockingly to herself, then scoffed.

Struggling to regain her composure amidst the overwhelming emotions inside her, she got out of bed and walked towards the washroom, completely unaware that she was still holding his hand. That hand would never leave her side until death separated them.

=====================

Ahana adorned herself in a dark blue georgette saree featuring a faded blue floral pattern and intricate zari work along the flower borders. She opted for a full-sleeved blouse and matching bangles, letting her hair cascade freely while adding a faded blue bindi at the center of her forehead. Her kohl-adorned eyes accentuate her beauty, leaving her looking stunningly gorgeous.

As she entered her room, she was humming on a song, smiling ear to ear. She was happy for no reason.

When her saree seems to open up from and she adjusts the pleats of her saree when the jingling of her bangles stirred Rajveer from his sleep. He squinted his eyes, slowly acclimating to the natural light and gazing tenderly at his petite wife. A smile appeared on his lips as he took in her beauty from head to toe, and it struck him that she was wearing attire that belonged to someone else.

A vivid memory from the past hit him sharply, prompting him to sit up quickly in bed. As if a sweet but bitter memory hit him hard. His jaw tightened, and his eyes turned red. "Ahana..." he called out somewhat harshly. "Yes..." she replied sweetly.

Her eyes locked with his, while voice melted in his heart, causing him to sigh and look away.. "I'll find you something different to wear, please change," he said, getting off the bed and preparing to leave the room.

"But why? This color is so beautiful, and I adore it!" she protested innocently.

"But you cannot wear it!" he replied in a low growl, and her expression fell. "What’s wrong with you? Why do you want me to change? Don't I look good?" she questioned, demanding a response.

"If I said change then change...", he growls. "Why must you argue—" he began, but paused as his gaze fell upon her. His breath caught in his throat as he finally took in a complete view of her. Her saddening face clenched his heart, while the fierce eyes held him speechless.

"What's wrong with this saree?" she pressed again, but he remained silent, struggling to find the right words. "Why do you have to ruin my mood right after you wake up? Why do you want me to change? It’s not like you’ll wear it," she retorted.

"Listen—" he started, but she interrupted him. "I won't change. If you don’t like it, then just don’t look at me," she declared, walking past him and out of the room.

Rajveer stood there, watching her leave with a heavy sigh. His expression softened as guilt for dampening her spirits and the pain building within him overwhelmed his chest.

"How can I tell you now? This belongs to someone else, and seeing you in it only reminds me of her," he whispered under his breath.
