Minho wasn't the person to be nagging, he took everything people would give him, doesn't matter whether he liked it or not. Same with the attitude of people, at least he had someone to talk to.Over the years from when his parents started fighting regularly he quickly adjusted to the situation, he'd worship whatever was given to him because he didn't want to end up fighting with everyone over something small like "did you eat something of my jam?" so he just put up with whatever he would get.
When he was still with his friends back in his old school, they'd always ask him for some money because they "forgot" it at home. Minho being Minho gave it to them because he knew they'd start to argue with him because he'd be so stingy. But he didn't care about that, at least he wouldn't be alone when he put up with them.
He also wouldn't argue with his parents that he wants some attention, they would just tell him to shut up for a second because they were still in a semi serious discussion about who ate the last cherry. So when they told him they would have to move because of some changes at work, he was happy but also scared. He was happy that their work schedules changed that far that mostly one of them would work, while the other is at home and just change that around noon.
He wouldn't have to listen to them arguing all day and he could finally spend some time with them. Separately but at least he would be able to.
He was just really scared that the people in the new school he would go to could be really mean to him and use the fact that he never speaks up. That fear made him feel sick to his stomach, but was happily washed away as soon as Chan walked up to him on his first day.
He showed him around the school and also gave him his number so that Minho could text him if he needs something. And at lunch Chan waited for Minho so he could bring him to their table. Chan said something about "I know how it is to get somewhere completely new" and "it can be scary but maybe if you get to know us and we become friends it gets less scary with people around you" Minho was thankful for that and had to chuckle when Chan said something about them being chaotic and when he gets a chance to flee he could take it.
Minho obviously wasn't going to do that though, and definitely not when Chan introduced him to everyone making him lock eyes with Jisung.
For him it was like everything around him stopped, he could swear he was about to faint right on the spot, his heart was beating so fast and he simply couldn't look away.
But Jisung could.
And to Minho's disgrace he did.
Still, when Minho sat down on the opposite side of Jisung they sometimes locked eyes and Minho could swear if someone was to feel his forehead, they would think he'd caught a fever, he felt so warm on the inside when looking at Jisung and if he would believe in it, he would say he fell in love right then and there.
For him it was like the moment Chan approached him he got calmer, he knew he could go to someone, but when he looked at Jisung all his worries washed away. He didn't know him but he knew that he would be okay as long as he was with Jisung. He became Minho's safety net without even knowing it.
It was this feeling they both felt in the moment they met, like they got pulled together as if everything they did in their lives led to them meeting, that they are supposed to be together.
Minho knew when Jisung felt bad, so did Jisung when Minho felt bad.
All the time of them being friends Minho was drawn to him, if it meant to keep Jisung safe, he'd jump in front of a train without hesitation. And that scared him, he never felt so deeply about someone close to him, for Minho it was always that he was with people just to prevent feeling lonely. But it was different with Jisung, when they are together it is as if nothing else matters other than Jisung and in those moments he couldn't think rationally and looking at that it was good that Changbin chimed in earlier, Minho never considered himself as a person to harm people but the things he would do for Jisung, damn.
Minho would literally cross oceans by swimming just to be with him.
They both knew they had that special connection and Minho knew that he doesn't only like him as a best friend, he just didn't know how Jisung felt about all that and Minho didn't want to ruin anything of their friendship. Much less did he want to end up like his parents, so he takes what he gets.
He always gets those impulse feelings to just tell Jisung how he feels, to say that he loves him and just worship him like he deserves it. But whenever they are together he couldn't bring himself to do that, he was too scared for the impacts those words could have.
Then when he looked down to Jisung he looked so peaceful, Minho didn't even notice how crazy he was smiling until the corners of his mouth started to hurt. Just by looking at Jisung he got that impulse again and, seriously, what could happen? Jisung looked asleep, his breathing regular and calm.
In Minho's thoughts it was either he gives in to the impulse now or his mouth just does it when they are talking and he could lose Jisung with that.
So while stroking some strands of Jisung's hair back, Minho said "I love you" it was a little whisper, someone else in the room wouldn't hear it but it was loud enough for himself to hear, to know that he gave in to the impulse.
And it felt so good, he didn't need Jisung to know as long as they could be with each other. Even as friends he would be happy about it. He didn't need to say those words to Jisung and risk ending up like his parents. He just wanted to be happy with Jisung doesn't matter how.
Little did he know that Jisung wasn't asleep.
