RUI
The evening sun cast long shadows across the room as I stepped inside my apartment, greeted only by an unsettling silence. It was early, just 6:30, and Ryuk wouldn't be back until 7:30. But something felt wrong, an unshakable sense of foreboding hung in the air.
I walked to the kitchen, my footsteps echoing in the stillness. A glass of water offered a momentary distraction, but the anxiety gnawed at me. It wasn't until I entered Ruvik's room that I realized the true extent of the strangeness.
The room was immaculate, like a blank canvas void of his essence. Every trace of his presence had vanished—his clothes, his belongings—all gone. Confusion twisted with unease in my chest. This wasn't just a physical absence; it was as though he had been erased from my life.
A sense of panic gripped me. Why would he do this without a word? Questions tumbled in my mind like a chaotic whirlwind. Had I done something to drive him away? Was it a mistake he couldn't forgive?
With trembling hands, I grabbed my phone, dialed Ruvik's number, and waited. Each unanswered ring felt like a heavy blow, a rejection that cut deeper with every iteration. I called him again and again, a total of 27 times, but there was no response, only the cold, mechanical voicemail.
Desperation compelled me to switch to text messages. I poured my confusion, my pain, into each text, sending them one after the other, hoping for any sign of life from him. But the screen remained empty of his words.
I retreated, sinking to the floor beside the glass wall. Tears welled up as I grappled with the enormity of his absence. Why had he left me like this, without a word, without a reason? The room whispered its silence, offering no answers to my shattered heart.
I blinked my eyes open, disoriented and groggy. Sunlight streamed through the windows, painting the room in soft morning hues. As I tried to piece together my surroundings, I realized I was in Ruvik's room, but I couldn't remember how or when I had fallen asleep on the floor. It was as if I had simply vanished from my thoughts the night before.
With a yawn and a stretch, I slowly got up from the floor, legs protesting the unusual makeshift bed. My body felt heavy, almost as if I had been sleeping for hours, even though it couldn't have been more than a few minutes of shut-eye.
Shaking off the grogginess, I made my way to my own room. Brushed my teeth, A refreshing shower followed, washing away the lingering sense of disorientation. I dressed in a white cotton shirt paired with white denim shorts and white sneakers, opting for a clean, comfortable look for the day ahead. My owl necklace and bracelet added a touch of familiarity to the ensemble, something I needed amidst the confusion.
I gathered my hair into a high ponytail, securing it with a scrunchie, and took one last look in the mirror. Despite the circumstances, I couldn't deny the sense of determination that seemed to be growing within me. I was going to find out what had happened with Ruvik.
The events of the previous night had left me with an empty stomach. So, before heading to Ruvik's house, I stopped at a nearby cafe for breakfast, hoping that a warm meal would bring clarity to my thoughts.
With my stomach satisfied and my determination renewed, I set off towards Ruvik's house.
I stood on the doorstep of Ruvik's house, my heart pounding in my chest as I repeatedly rang the doorbell. I knew he was in there. But there was no response, no sign of movement inside. I tried calling him again and again, but each time, it went straight to voicemail.
The sky above darkened, and then, as if the heavens themselves were echoing my turmoil, rain began to fall. It was just a drizzle at first, but it quickly intensified, drenching me within moments. I shivered involuntarily, realizing that I was only wearing shorts and a light shirt, wholly unprepared for this unexpected downpour.
