Chapter 12

The next day
[Bonnie learned that the woman was one of her descendants named Emily Bennett. A new history teacher arrived, he introduced himself, and his name was Alaric Saltzman. Bonnie talked to Elena about what her grandma said about Emily, Bonnie didn't want to embrace it and just wanted it to stop. Alaric decided to give Jeremy a clean slate and told him to write him a paper about local history]
{In Alaric's classroom}
Jeremy: That's a cool ring
Alaric: Ah thanks, it was my father's, it's a little garish, but family, you know
Jeremy: Yeah, my dad has an identical one
Alaric: Really?
Jeremy: Uhu, well, thanks again, Mr.Saltzman
Alaric: No problem
(Jeremy left and Alaric looked at the ring)
Alaric: Strange
<later on>
[Damon threatened Bonnie to give him the necklace and Elena told her to stay away from him like she was trying to. That night, Jenna and Jeremy went out to Grill. Jeremy ditched and Jenna and Alaric get acquainted with each other. She told him about Logan, he told her about his dead wife, and the reason he moved to Mystic Falls, which was because of the scenery and the rich history. Elena called Stefan to tell him what had happened between Bonnie and Damon. Stefan told her that he knew about Bonnie from the moment that he met her and that he would get the truth out of Damon. That night, the necklace returned to Bonnie, and she, Elena, Victoria, and Caroline had a seance in Elena's room with candles and the necklace. The seance worked, Bonnie found the necklace in the bathroom and the door closed by itself. The girls started freaking out and tried to get her out in any way they could, Bonnie came out but she was not herself, and when Elena realized it, Bonnie was out the door, so Elena called Stefan and rushed after her. Stefan got part of the reason why Damon returned, he went into the forest to keep drinking, and as soon as Stefan got Elena's call, he also went into the forest]
{In the forest}
[Emily as Bonnie revealed to Stefan that she had to save all the vampires to save Katherine but Damon didn't care about the others. However, it was revealed to Stefan that Damon wanted to make the town pay for what they did years ago]
Stefan: These are innocent people, they don't have any fault for what happened 145 years ago
Damon: They are not innocent, they'll be coming for us next, and they'll burn your little witchy granddaughter too
Stefan: None of them deserve this
Damon: Yeah they do, Stefan
Stefan: What about Elena?
Damon: No, not her-
Stefan: She'll be a target too alongside Tori, Jeremy, and countless others, Damon. Wake up, you need to accept the fact that these people are innocent
[Emily as Bonnie used Incendia and destroyed the necklace. Elena got to Bonnie, the spell was over, and Emily left Bonnie's body. Damon attacked Bonnie almost killing her but Stefan saved her life and Elena stared angrily at Damon. Elena thanked Stefan for saving her life and took her back to her house. Caroline left and Matt spent the night with her eating junk food and watching movies. Elena revealed everything to Bonnie and she, Elena, and Victoria spent the night. Damon revealed to Stefan that Katherine never compelled him, that he knew every step of the way, that it was real to him, and that he would leave now, which made Stefan feel bad for his brother. Jeremy asked his dad for one of The Gilbert Journals for his assignment and he gave it to him. That night, everyone was heading to sleep but then the doorbell rang and Jenna opened it. It was Logan and he asked Jenna to let him in but she refused even after a couple of times of him asking. He was furious and left, he saw one of the neighbors, who was an old man throwing away the trash, and he left. He then saw a female jogger and he stopped her to talk to her, they started flirting, and then Logan vamped out, terrifying her, Logan bit her, and sucked all her blood, killing her. He then walked away]

The next day
{In The Salvatore Boarding House}
Stefan: So, any idea where you're going?
Damon: I don't know, London, maybe, see some friends
Stefan: You don't have any friends, Damon
Damon: Oh yeah, sure, I only have you, Stefan, so where are we going?
(He turned around from staring at the window and walked up to Stefan)
Stefan: We are not going anywhere together, I'm going to live my life as far away from you as possible
Damon: But we're a team, we could try out for the amazing race
Stefan: Hmm, funny, seriously where are you going? Because we're not staying in Mystic Falls
Damon: I told you, London to visit some friends, well, a friend. Don't look so shocked, brother, I do have some friends
[The doorbell rang and Stefan went to open it. Sheriff Forbes was there to see Damon, so Damon went up to her and told her to come in. They stepped outside for privacy, told him that there had been another attack, and that it was a female jogger that was completely drained of blood]
{With Damon and Sheriff Forbes}
Damon: So what do we do?
Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes: Zach is the only one who took on a vampire and with him being gone now, I was hoping you could tell me. We said it was another animal attack but I don't know how much more we can sell that, the council is in an uproar. I thought we were past this
Damon: I understand
(They went back inside)
{In The Salvatore Boarding House}
Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes: Let me know what you come up with anything
Damon: Of course
[She left and Damon closed the door. As soon as he dod, Stefan zoomed over and pushed Damon against the door asking him if he killed someone. Damon easily pushed him off, told him that if it were him he wouldn't have made it so obvious, and that there was another vampire in town]
Stefan: So what do we do now?
Damon: Who cares? We're leaving anyway
Stefan: No, I can't leave now, we can't leave now, how are we supposed to find this person?
Damon: Let the adults handle this
{With Elena}
(She saw Matt and Caroline talking, walking together, and laughing)
Elena: What's going on with them?
Bonnie: They've been hanging out, she deserves a nice guy like him
Elena: How are you doing?
Bonnie: I'm freaked out, Damon attacked me, but I'm also grateful to Stefan for saving my life. How are you doing?
Elena: Awful, I'm going to do whatever I can to yank Damon out of my heart
Bonnie: Good, he's not good for you, Elena
Elena: I-I know, he and Stefan are leaving, Stefan texted me last night
Bonnie: Look, even if Damon wasn't a murderous vampire, just a regular one, I think their leaving is for the best
Elena: What? Why?
Bonnie: Well, think about it, what kind of future could you have by Damon's side?
(Elena sighs and they go to class)
<after school>
[Stefan told Elena about what was going on, he told her that it wasn't Damon due to him trying to keep a low profile, and she believed him. He told her to be careful, and she told him that she would. Damon compelled Caroline to use the compass to track down the vampire, Caroline got into her car, and Damon followed her on foot. They arrived at a warehouse and then Damon compelled her to forget everything that happened. When Damon went inside, he was shot with wooden bullets and he found out that the vampire was Logan. They talked for a bit, Damon kept asking him who turned him, and Logan kept asking him how he could walk in the sun. Neither one answered the other so Logan shot Damon some more]
{In Mystic Falls High School}
Matt: So, you still want to be a writer?
Elena: Definitely, and you, you still want to be an astronaut?
Matt: You remember that?
Elena: I remember the tinfoil you wrapped around your head
[They laughed and they saw Stefan so Matt gave them some space. Jenna and Elena's parents went up to them and Jenna shared that Logan 'Scum' Fell arrived. Stefan got a feeling and he looked at Elena and her parents, they quickly understood, and they took Jenna away]
{With Elena and the others}
Miranda: Okay, Jenna, when Logan came by the house what did he say?
Jenna: Well, you know Logan, fake flattery, idiotic dimpled grin, and his stupid puppy dog eyes
Elena: Seriously, Jenna, how did he act? What did he say?
Jenna: He was the usual charming Logan, a little more manic than usual, and he kept trying to convince me to let him in
Grayson Gilbert: Okay, listen to us very carefully, do not under any circumstances talk to him again, ever
Jenna: Alright
<later on>
[Jeremy tried to make conversation with Tyler about his art and Jeremy's art, but it lead back to Vicky and they ended up fighting. Mayor Lockwood took both boys outside and Alaric went to find Jeremy's dad to warn him. Logan ambushed Sheriff Forbes and got angry at her for what he did. When Sheriff Forbes said that he was one of the vampires now, he told her to watch her back, and then walked away. Sheriff Forbes called in a backup unit and Matt saw Caroline getting a ride from Logan. When Elena asked if he had seen her, he told her about Logan giving her a ride, and she tolf Stefan. Stefan hurried and left the school]
{Outside}
[Mayor Lockwood kept trying to get both boys to fight but they both keep refusing and that's when Grayson and Alaric arrived]
Grayson Gilbert: What the hell is going on out here?
Mayor Lockwood: Just letting these two work it out. Don't worry, Gray, you can trust me with your son, go back inside
Alaric: We're not going back inside, Doctor Gilbert, asked you a question, what the hell is going on out here?
Mayor Lockwood: Who do you think you're talking to? Do I look like a student?
Alaric: No, you look like a full-grown alpha-male douchebag
(Tyler got surprised and Jeremy and Grayson tried not to laugh)
Mayor Lockwood: You don't talk to me like that
Grayson Gilbert: He can talk to you in any way that he seems fit
Mayor Lockwood: I could have your job and your doctor's license like this
(He snapped his fingers)
Grayson Gilbert: Oh really? I'd like to see you try, Mayor
Alaric: You do that and then it'll be me and you working it out on this parking lot
Mayor Lockwood: You two just marked yourselves
Grayson Gilbert/Alaric: Sure/Okay
Grayson Gilbert: You leave my boy and your son alone
(Tyler walked away and Mayor Lockwood followed him)
Grayson Gilbert: You okay, son?
Jeremy: Yeah, I'm okay, Dad, thanks, for the backup, Mr.Saltzman
Grayson Gilbert: Yes, thank you
Alaric: No problem
(They went back inside)
{With Logan}
[He called Sheriff Forbes to taunt her and she asked him what he wanted. He answered, "The satisfaction of turning your daughter into a vampire". Stefan ripped open his car door and threw him on the ground. Damon shot him with multiple wooden bullets. Stefan took Caroline away and Damon told Sheriff Forbes that he was on Elm Street. Before Damon can bust Logan's head off with a tire iron, he told him that there was another way to break the spell on the tomb. Logan told Damon to meet him at the old church. They faked Logan taking him down and Logan left. Stefan went back to the school]
{In Mystic Falls High School}
Elena: Is Caroline, okay?
Stefan: Yeah, I took her home
Miranda Gilbert: And Logan?
Stefan: Damon's dealing with it
Grayson Gilbert: As in...
Stefan: Yeah
Elena: I'll give you a ride home
Stefan: That'd be nice
Victoria: Mom, Dad, should we tell Jenna now?
Miranda Gilbert: Yeah, it's time, she's talking to Mr.Saltzman, we're going to go get her
Elena: I'll be back later
Grayson Gilbert: Okay, be careful
Elena: I will
[Elena and Stefan left, Victoria and her parents went to get Jenna, and then Jeremy, who had a bloody nose because he tried to bond with Tyler because of Tyler's problem with his dad. The Gilberts weng home]
{With Elena}
(Stefan and her went up to his room to talk)
{In Stefan's bedroom}
Elena: What I said about you and Damon leaving, that was harsh
Stefan: No, you had every right
Elena: You asked me what I wanted for my future career to be. I want to be a writer, my mom pushed me in that direction, she encouraged me, and bought me my first journal when I was ten. I know that you think you brought all this bad stuff into my life but I don't regret meeting Damon or you. You're my friend and I want you in my life and Damon, well, as crazy as this sounds, I want him in life too, but I need to yank him out of my heart. He fed on random innocent girls from my school including Caroline, a couple of times, he turned Vicky, he killed her friends to feed on them, and he killed Mr.Tanner, he was an asshole, but still. He almost killed Bonnie and I heard what he was trying to do, he was going to let innocent lives get taken by those vampires, except for me, my siblings, and the rest of my family, maybe
Stefan: I think he changed his mind
Elena: Maybe, but still, I have to get him out of my heart, but I don't know how
Stefan: Let me help you, give me a chance
(Elena nodded, they started to kiss and eventually, they slept together)
<later>
(They got dressed)
Stefan: You want some coffee?
Elena: That'd be nice
(Stefan left and Elena started looking at the stuff in his room)
{Back with Logan}

{Back with Elena}
[She accidentally found Katherine's picture and was shocked, she took off her necklace, got her car keys, and left the boarding house. Sheriff Forbes called Damon and thanked him, he got confused, and Sheriff Forbes told him that Logan was dead and that they found him by the old Fell building. She told him about Logan's innocent victims, that his body was disposed of, and thanked him once again. They both hung up and Damon was again disillusioned because he had arrived at the old church once again. He went out of the forest and into his car]
{With Elena}
(She was driving and hit a man making her car crash)

[He put her in the front seat of his car and checked her for any broken bones. Elena turned out to be perfectly fine, Damon moved her car into the forest and then got into his car. He checked her phone but it was dead, so he put it on the charger in his car. He then drove away with Elena]
{In the Gilbert Home}
Jenna: Sweetie, you've been holding your stomach for a while. Are you okay? Does it hurt?
Victoria: I just, I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach like something's wrong, I think it's Elena
Grayson Gilbert: Let's wait a little, she'll come home
(They sit down and wait patiently for Elena)
