Chapter 57

The next afternoon
[It was Victoria's graduation and all of her family and all of their friends went to Briarwood Academy for the ceremony. Helen started the ceremony, and then she called the valedictorian, which was Victoria, she gave her speech, and then she sat back down. Helen started announcing each of the students' names, each one came up to accept their diploma, shake her hand, and pose for a picture. After the ceremony, everyone went to the Asphalt Cafe to enjoy dinner and the party. A lot of groups and young student singers performed and to close the show, Victoria performed her new song called Here's To Us]

(Everyone clapped and cheered and then Victoria ended it with another amazing cover)

[Everyone clapped and cheered, Victoria got off stage, and joined her family and friends. Helen thanked everyone for coming to the party, and everyone started to leave]
{Outside the school}
Victoria: Hey, isn't that Bonnie's mom?
Elena: Y-Yeah, I thought she went to the airport with Bonnie this morning at three AM
Caroline: That's what you two told us
Annabelle: G-Guys, I-I-
Jeremy: We can explain
(The girls ran to them and Annabelle and Jeremy thought they had no choice but to follow them)
Elena: Ms.Wilson
Abigail Bennet: Elena
Victoria: We thought you left this morning with Bonnie? Did you miss your flight? Where's Bonnie? Is she at the airport already?
Abigail Bennet: I-I can't, not again
Miranda Gilbert: Abby, what's going on?
Abigail: Goodbye
(She got in her car and drove away, Rudy sighed)
Rudy Hopkins: We have to talk, everyone
Jeremy: Mr.Hopkins-
Rudy Hopkins: They have to know, son
Caroline: Know what? What's going on?
Rudy Hopkins: Come with me, all of you
(They all followed him in their cars and they went to the Grill)
{Outside The Grill}
[Rudy confessed to them all the truth about Bonnie, which made the girls break down, and Annabelle and Jeremy confessed too. Jeremy texted everyone else and they all went home to wear their funeral clothes]
{At the location where Bonnie's body was buried}
[Elena, Damon, Victoria, Beckett, Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Annabelle, Jade, Caterina, Andre, Robbie, the rest of the Gilbert family plus the Von Ferdinand family were there, and even Rebekah was there too. Caroline laid Bonnie's pom-poms on the tree trunk, Victoria laid Bonnie's whistle, Elena laid white feathers, Annabelle laid Bonnie's grimoire, Tyler laid a white rose, and Matt laid a picture of all of them together]
Jeremy: Bonnie's here, I can see her, she says that she's not going anywhere, that even if she's not here physically with us, she's here in spirit, and she wants all of you to have the summer of your lives. She is telling me to tell you, Elena, that she knows you think that you can't have a normal life and that you have to be here for everyone, but you don't, that everyone will find their way. She says that you're gonna turn in your college applications, pack your things, and you're gonna live it up. Victoria, Bonnie says that you're gonna pack your things as well, you're gonna get on that plane, and you, Beck, Jade, Cat, Robbie, and Andre are gonna rock that Mexican and South American Tour. Anna, you too are gonna get ready for college, live it up as well, and you're gonna become the best photographer. Caroline, you're gonna go to college and decorate that dorm room as if your life depends on it. Matt, you're gonna go with Rebekah to see all the places you've never seen, and you're gonna have the best summer that you've never had before. She says that she'll be okay and that we'll be okay
(Everyone stayed there for another half hour in silence and tears. After a while, they all went home)
<that night>
[Victoria got on the airplane with her friends to head to Baja California. Stefan got ready to toss Silas' calcified body in the quarry, but he heard pieces, so he opened the bag and saw that there was nothing but broken statue pieces inside of it. Silas explained things to him before he revealed his real face to Stefan. He staked Stefan in his abdomen, put him in the safe along with the bag where Stefan was going to put him, and then pushed the safe into the quarry. He got into Stefan's van and drove away]

[The principal of Mystic Falls High School agreed to let Jeremy go on to the next grade of high school if he could pass all of his final exams plus all of his staar tests from his grade level before the new school year began. Jeremy decided to begin studying big time, the victorious tour started in Baja California then went to Baja Califonia Sur, then went to Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, then went to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Zacatecas, the tour stopped at Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, then Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, and Michoacan. By then, the month of June was over, it was the first day of July, and Elena and the others were feeling okay now]
{In The Gilbert Home}
Grayson Gilbert: So, what university or college are you girls going to?
Annabelle: Whitmore, Mr.Gilbert
Grayson & Miranda Gilbert: What?!
Caroline: Yeah, I compelled the college to give Elena, Annabelle, and me the biggest dorm so we could all share alongside Tori when she comes back from tour
Elena: W-Well, actually, a-about that, uh, f-funny story-
Grayson Gilbert: We prefer if you all go somewhere else, anywhere else
Elena: Why, Dad? You and Mom went there
Miranda Gilbert: It's a dangerous place, we don't want you going there at all
Annabelle: Why? Why is it dangerous?
Grayson Gilbert: Okay, Okay, it's time we come clean, listen to me very carefully, back in the 50s and a little before that, there was this society called the Augustine Society, and they-
Damon: Did vampire experiments on vampires
Miranda Gilbert: How do you know that?
Damon: Because my friend Enzo and I were Augustine vampires, I'm guessing that's where they kept us, I never saw the actual place. Those Augustine freaks tortured us by cutting us up and studying our healing process
Elena: Oh my GOD
Damon: Enzo was there for ten years, I was there for five
Elena: Why didn't you ever tell me?
Damon: It's a chapter in my life that I wanted to leave behind
Grayson Gilbert: In 1958 during the holidays, the two vampires escaped, which I imagine was you and Enzo, Damon?
Damon: Correct
Grayson Gilbert: Well, on that night, all of the members and their dates were murdered by-
Damon: Yours truly
Grayson Gilbert: And from then on, the only way to do vampire experiments was with the vampire blood bags that Doctor Whitmore kept in his cooler. As you know, daylight rings are very rare and not a lot of vampires have them, I was part of the Augustine society back in the day, and I used vampire blood for health purposes, so I could save lives
Damon: So you're saying that that freaky society still exists?
Grayson Gilbert: I think so, I haven't been to a meeting of theirs in a long, long, long time, so I'm not sure
Damon: If Enzo and I hadn't escaped would you still be performing those experiments?
Grayson Gilbert: Maybe at first but, Elena, you changed my mind and your mother's about vampires
Elena: Were you successful in curing someone, Dad?
Grayson Gilbert: Yes, you might know her, Megan King
Caroline: Megan King? From Lemonade Mouth
Grayson Gilbert: Uhu, she was born with a rare heart condition and was not expected to live long, but I was able to save her with some vampire blood
Elena: Dad, that's amazing, you used vampire blood to save lives. At least you never tortured actual vampires, and I can't not defend you
Damon: No, of course, you can't, because you do it for me all the time
Elena: I don't defend your bad actions, I didn't defend you when you decided to turn Vicky, I didn't defend you when you killed her friends by feeding on them-
Damon: I hadn't fed in three days-
Elena: You could have broken into a hospital and grabbed blood bags from there, I didn't defend you when you fed on my high school classmates, including Caroline-
Damon: So why are you still here? I'm bad for you, Elena, I am bad for you, so why wouldn't you have run away from me as fast as humanly possible?
Elena: Because I love you, Damon, because it's always been you from day one, and I stand by my choice
Damon: Well, now I'm choosing, and I'm choosing to let you go
Elena: What?
(He stood up and walked out making Elena stand up as well)
Elena: Damon!
(She rushed outside)
{Outside}
(Elena caught him and grabbed his arm closing the front door behind her)
Elena: Damon, wait
(Damon pulled away from her)
Damon: I'm choosing to relieve you of having to defend me for every awful thing that I've ever done
Elena: Stop acting like I'm perfect, I've done awful things too, you think I'm gonna stand here and judge you after finding out that you were tortured for five years
Damon: Stop defending me! I won't change who I am, I can't, you know that, but I refuse to change you
Elena: Damon, please, don't do this
(She started crying, Damon turned away, got in his car, and drove away. Miranda came out and Elena turned around)
Elena: Mom, he-he, mommy
Miranda: Come here, sweetheart
(Elena went into her arms and cried her eyes out while Miranda rubbed her back)
<after twenty minutes>
(Elena pulled away from her mom)
Elena: I'm not gonna lose him, I'm not going to
(She zoomed away to chase after Damon)
{With Damon}
[He finished drinking and then went to his bedroom. That's when Elena arrived, zoomed inside, and stormed into his bedroom]
{In The Salvatore Mansion in Damon's bedroom}
[Damon was looking out his window, and knew it was Elena, but he didn't turn around to look at her. She walked over to him and pushed him by his shoulders]
Elena: Look at me, damn it!
(Damon slowly turned around and looked down at her)
Damon: What?
(She pushed him again but grabbed her hands and he held them against his chest. Elena pulled away from him)
Elena: I know you've done a lot of horrible things, you put me in positions where I have to defend you, where I have to bend my morals, and where I have to go against every single thing that I believe in again because I love you!
Damon: Then stop loving me!
Elena: I can't!
Damon: Well that's the problem, we don't work
Elena: I know, but I don't care because I love you, and because I will accommodate you a billion times over. I don't know how else to tell you that I can't live without you, you stubborn, thick-headed, asshole, that you're the love of my life, that I'll always love you, that you're exactly what I want and need-
[Damon interrupted her with a passionate kiss, in less than a minute, Damon's shirt was ripped off, and clothes flew everywhere. They both landed on the bed making out and they slept together]
<after three hours>
(Delena went to sleep)
