Huo Junxian’s fingers trembled slightly, as if her heart had been clenched tightly. She didn’t immediately respond to Gu Siyu’s proposal.

Gu Siyu wasn’t in a hurry; she gave Huo Junxian time, letting her think it over before answering.

Gu Siyu deliberately softened her voice, trying to add a touch of gentleness. Unlike Huo Junxian, who naturally exudes a gentle demeanor, Gu Siyu worried that she might not be persuasive enough in what she said.

"Okay." Huo Junxian’s hand loosened for a few seconds before she gently grasped Gu Siyu’s hand in return.

She smiled at Gu Siyu and then pressed her lips together tightly.

They walked hand in hand on their way home. The driver called to ask where Huo Junxian was, and she said she wanted to take a walk first.

Huo Junxian asked her, "Didn’t you go out to play today?"

"No, it’s boring to go out alone," Gu Siyu replied honestly. Going abroad had felt like exile to her. After they had walked a bit further, Gu Siyu added, "It’s better to stay with the person you like."

Huo Junxian chuckled and said, "You’re quite straightforward these days."

Gu Siyu noticed that Huo Junxian was very reserved, almost reclusive, and reluctant to step out of her comfort zone. Gu Siyu curiously asked, "You know what being straightforward means?"

"I’m not a caveman."

"Hahaha," Gu Siyu laughed.

Huo Junxian looked at her as the wind blew her long hair across her face. As she gazed ahead, she said, "No wonder you've changed so much since studying abroad. Our Xiao Gu seems like a different person now."

Gu Siyu snorted, "And what about you? Didn’t you study abroad too?"

Huo Junxian nodded, "That’s right, I did."

Gu Siyu felt like Huo Junxian was teasing her on purpose. She wasn’t in a rush to make Huo Junxian reveal her secrets; she thought they could take their time.

After all, they had a long road ahead together.

After walking for about half an hour, Gu Siyu asked Huo Junxian how the company was doing. Huo Junxian said it was fine. Gu Siyu then asked if she could buy shares in their company, joking that she didn’t understand stocks at all but wondered if she could make some money that way.

Huo Junxian advised against buying stocks if she didn’t understand them, suggesting instead that she could give Gu Siyu some shares, so she could experience what it’s like to be a shareholder.

"I was just joking. I don’t really want to be a shareholder. I’ve got things figured out now," Gu Siyu said.

"Hmm?" Huo Junxian was puzzled. "What have you figured out?"

How to explain it?

Gu Siyu had earned enough money to last a lifetime. She didn’t like hoarding money, mainly because she didn’t know what to do with it. Materially, she was satisfied and didn’t feel the need to earn more. She preferred a simple life.

At 27, she might seem like she had no real job, but she had done a lot. She played dangerous sports and took on part-time jobs as long as they didn’t cross her bottom line. When they did, she met Huo Junxian.

Maybe it was fate.

"I haven’t thought much about what to do in the future. I want to take it easy, have more free time, and go out and have fun together," Gu Siyu said. "As for the detailed plans, we can draw them up together."
