MATTEO: Life and Death

Chapter 4

It's been a few days since , Matteo joined the Rogue Sacrantes Gang . Shepard managed to complete a couple of good and swiftly paid assignments . His reputation began to slowly grow , more and more people began to hear about him . Shepard as he is , performed tasks without any scruples . Sometimes he took orders from other gang leaders or syndicates to expand his portfolio. In a word, there was no shortage of orders

One sunny day on the moon of Nar Shadda . Shepard browsed through the offers of orders . Eliminate a member of a rival gang , protect a spice delivery , Eliminate another bounty hunter and protect an Imperial Senator . Shepard decided to take a peek at the latter .

Matteo clicked on the order and the first thing he noticed was , information on the order. Riyo Chuchi - Senator from the planet Pandora needed a bodyguard , who could provide her with protection while traveling to her home planet Pandora . Upon reaching the place , Shepard went inside . He noticed few clones sitting at tables , drinking liquor and reminiscing about the old days of the Galactic Republic . The clones were wearing phase II armor or navy blue clothes . At the main table sat a pantorian , sipping a drink . Matteo guessed that it was Riyo Chuchi . He approached her starting a conversation .

"Riyo Chuchi?" He asked . Pantorian woman looked at him . She guessed that he was her hired bodyguard . She pointed with her hand to an empty seat . Shepard sat down next to her .

"So it's you . My bodyguard . I thought you were an ugly man .

Shepard laughed , "Me ugly? . Oh girl . I take care of myself like my red speeder.

Riyo's corners widened gently . She took out the credits and gave them to the table . She ordered the same as Shepard . The bartender served her a Corelian Whisky . Chuchi took the glass in her hand and took a sip . Matteo did the same . "So what are we doing here? How much are we flying to Pandora?"

"My ship is under repair . The hyperdrive banged . What a misfortune " She took a sip of alcohol.

"Since , your ship is under repair . The Senate can't assign you , I don't know a second ship?" Matteo asked taking the glass in his hand.

"That's not how it works. You see ..... No matter what , you won't understand anyway" Chuchi looked down . Matt drank some alcohol .

"You're right . I don't know about politics . To me this whole Senate is one big circus . No one can communicate there , come to a word , create a plan that everyone could benefit from . The Republic wanted peace , the Separatists wanted peace . And what , nothing , at the moment when it was supposed to be enough to reach an agreement , suddenly there was an attack on the power plant . All of this does not make sense ! " Matteo expressed his opinion on politics in the galaxy .

"That's the way the galaxy is now " Riyo looked at the two clones sitting at the table . Matteo put his hand on her shoulder.

"Is something wrong?"

"I'm worried about them" She began " They have done so much for the Republic , fought bravely on every front. They were the strength of the Republic . And how did Palpatine repay them? By dismissing them from service and replacing them with ordinary people. They know no other life than fighting on the front . What will they do? I am terribly worried

"Didn't you think , to persuade the Senate to introduce a pension for clones? So that they have something to live on? " Shepard interjected

"You know , I'm trying to persuade them to do it , but they don't want to go for it . I am one and they are many . Why is my life so difficult" She took a sip of Whiskey" Why did I get into all this politics in the first place?"

Matteo looked at the glass . He refilled his drink and ordered another round . He massaged Riyo's back . He sensed through the Asari Force , that she was exhausted by this mess . He decided to tell her a story .

"You know , before the Empire came , I fought for the Systems Alliance and the Republic . I had my own legion . Legion 77 . I remember some soldiers who served under my command . Majima , Kiryu , Shocker , Boomer , Daredevil , Bullseye , Kiji , Point , Sider . We performed the most difficult missions , which were assigned to us by the Jedi council . We came out of these missions alive and well . We were invincible on the battlefield , we fought until the end . We did not give up . One day a Jedi was assigned to our legion . Master Arla Jareni and Padawan Damian Revers . I quickly managed to become friends with them . Thanks to them I experienced more knowledge about the Jedi Order . We fought side by side , until that day .

"What was next?" Chuchi took a stronger interest in this tragic story .

"Order 66 - the clones betrayed us. I , Master Arla Jareni and Padawan Damian Reesse defended ourselves from theirblaster fire . While defending ourselves , Arla got seriously injured . I was forced to go on the offensive . I began to kill the clones one by one . After murdering , I took Arla to the infirmary . I remember , she had a serious hole in the abdomen . We reached the infirmary with difficulty , I immediately took care of her wound . I used up almost all the bacta and bandages , to keep her alive . And that was just the beginning."

"What was next?" Chuchi took a stronger interest in this tragic story .

"Next ........ Next was only worse . We reached the hangar and they were waiting for us I tried to negotiate . I told , them that a fate worse than death would await . But , they didn't buy it . They kept saying 'Jedi committed treason , In the name of the great army of the republic , we have the right to execute any member of the Jedi Order , no matter if it's a youngling or a jedi knight . They finally pointed their weapons in our direction . I took my lightsaber . I ignited it and used my biotic Powers , to start fighting them . It was not easy . I fought the clones at the same time I escorted the Jedi to the ship , to escape from the destroyer . They managed to fly out . I do not know where they flew . But I hope they are alive and hiding very well .

" And what about you? " Chuchi interrupted .

"I fought them all . My killer instinct turned on . I murdered them one by one . I didn't stop . They had no chance with me . During the fighting , the main reactor malfunctioned . The gravity of the planet began to attract the destroyer . During all this chaos , I spotted a jedi fighter . I quickly went to sit in it . Then I flew out of the hangar . I watched as the destroyer approached orbit . Then I set the coordinates of my planet . " Matteo finished his tragic story . Then one of her guards approached Mrs. Senator and whispered something in her ear . Riyo looked at the former Commander .

"My ship has been repaired . So what? Shall we fly?"

"Rather . I guess you don't pay for drinking alcohol with you . " Matteo said . Riyo laughed . Then they left the bar together.
