MATTEO: Life and Death

Chapter 54

Matteo, along with Tali and Garrus, returned to Normandy. Commander Shepard's ship was on the planet Navia in the Hawking Eta system. It was an Alliance outpost and one of the human colonies in the system. The Canadian introduced his new comrades-in-arms on board. The crew members began to salute at the sight of their leader. Shepard walked through the crowd. Garrus and Talia followed him. They entered the communications center. The rest of the team was waiting for them. They approached the hologram of the galaxy.

"I haven't been aboard the Normandy for a long time," Vakarian began. "You can see , nothing has changed in all these years.

"And I'm looking forward to going to the reactor and engines. " Tali admitted. "Maybe they changed something there."

"I doubt it," Garrus muttered. "Why change something , which is good."

"We have hyperdrive" Matteo grunted "We don't have to use the rings anymore. Besides, we have a bigger hangar and new cannons. "

"Mhm I hate Spoilers. " Tali crossed her arms. "Now you've spoiled the surprise."

"It happens," Matteo shrugged his shoulders. He walked over to the hologram. "It's time to recruit the other people."

"Which ones do you have in mind?" Garrus asked himself. Matt displayed the planet on the hologram.

"Tuchanka" Shepard said the name of the planet. "Planet of the Krogan - the most powerful warriors in the galaxy . They are stronger than the Mandalorians. They can help us in the fight against the Empire. " He explained. Garrus crossed his arms.

"I don't know Shepard. Krogans may be the strongest , but:" He paused for a moment. "I doubt , they can help us. They probably have their own problems."

"Ay Garrus:" Matteo began "You talk like a Christian. Here you need more action and faith. This is where Catholic strength is needed. I will talk to Wrex. I haven't talked to him for a very , but very long time. Remember - A man will die , but not his ideas".

"What was that supposed to mean?" Vakarian muttered. "Here you go again with that Catholic talk."

"I don't know. Just as a person of the Catholic faith, I think you have to do more than talk. Satan will still be tempted. You have to fight , take the plunge." Shepard explained. Some agreed with him giving their support. Garrus was not convinced about that.

"I don't know these beliefs of yours. I don't want to be interested in it," he said. " He lifted his head up. "Joker. Course for Tuchanka."

"Yes, sir," Moreau typed in the coordinates. After a moment, the ship entered hyperspace.

Tuchanka, the home planet of the krogan, can "boast" extreme temperature fluctuations, dangerous diseases and deadly predators. Around 1900 BC, the krogan discovered nuclear weapons and soon brought a nuclear winter to Tuchanka. Most of the population hid in underground bunkers, and the krogan entered a dark period of tribal clan domination." Such an entry was in the Lexicon of the Galaxy. Unfortunately , times have changed , and so have the planets. Tuchanka was now more populated than ever. Since the cure of Genophage and the defeat of the Reapers , the Krogans have focused on reproduction all these years. Many mercenaries have returned to their home planet to help their species. Today, Tuchanka is a rebuilt planet and a place only for strong people.

Normandy has entered the planet's atmosphere. The shuttle left the frigate's hangar and flew toward the spaceport. In John Shepard's notes, the spaceport did not exist. Instead, it was one big mess. Tuchanka at the time was a nuclear wasteland. Without weapons or armor , survival was turning into pure suicide. The ruler of Tuchanka - Urdnot Wrex rarely traded with other planets. Sometimes even at all. He believes , he does not need help from others. Well , everyone has his own opinion.
