Jasmine had completely cleared out the large dining room/living room area and made it into a dance floor, complete with a DJ booth and everything. The room was dark except for the dull neon glow coming from the fluorescent LED light strips that were hung around the ceiling and the laser strobe light that made beams of colorful lights dance around the room.
There were black lights set up around the room too and people were painting glow in the dark paint on their skin and wearing glow stick bracelets and necklaces. The bass of the music was bumping so hard, I could feel it vibrating through my entire body as I danced shoulder-to-shoulder with a hundred other people that were dancing too.
"Let's hear it for the birthday girl Sydney Ryan who just turned eighteen yesterday! She's the reason we're all here tonight!" the DJ shouted into his microphone and everyone started cheering loudly and then he turned up the music again.
The drinks had already had an effect on me and the room was spinning slightly and everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. I closed my eyes, lifting my arms above my head and started swaying my hips back and forth to the beat of the music.
When I finally opened my eyes, I saw Takashi Chang standing in front of me. "There you are. I went to get us some glow in the dark body paint and when I came back you had disappeared," he said with a smile as he walked up to me.
"Where's the body paint?" I asked, looking at his empty hands.
"Oh, when I couldn't find you, I painted it on Caitlyn. It's alright. We can get more later. For now I just feel like dancing," he said, stepping forward and putting his hands on my waist and pulling my body close to his.
He lifted my arms and wrapped them around the back of his neck before resting his hands on my hips. We started swaying back and forth to the music, and I could smell his expensive cologne and feel his heart beating against my chest.
He looked down into my eyes and I looked up at him and studied his face. Neither one of us spoke and I wondered what he was thinking. He slowly leaned his head down towards mine and I held my breath as he got close enough that I could feel his warm breath on my lips.
I could tell he was about to kiss me, but did I even want him to? Before my foggy, drunk brain could process what was going on and tell him no, his lips had pressed against mine.
He cupped the back of my head in his hand as he tilted his face to the side and covered my mouth completely with his, kissing me deeply. His tongue pushed past my lips and massaged against mine and my eyes shot open because it surprised me. I wasn't prepared for all that. This was all happening way too fast.
I had dreamed about what it would be like to kiss Takashi Chang for so long, but this wasn't how I had pictured it going at all. It was more aggressive and rushed than I thought it would be. I was hoping for something more tender and emotional, something with feeling. Kissing him didn't make me feel anything. I closed my eyes and just tried to enjoy the moment and get out of my own head, but then a flash of Colton's face went through my mind and that's when I knew this wasn't right.
I pulled back from the kiss and stepped back, lowering my arms and looking at him as I stood there, trying to catch my breath.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Then a flirty smile slowly came across his face. "You wanna take this upstairs and make things more interesting?" he asked, reaching out and running his finger lightly over the crease of my cleavage.
I scrunched my eyebrows at him. "More interesting?" I asked, swallowing hard.
He laughed. "Yeah, you know what that means don't you? If not, I'm sure even an innocent little virgin like you can use your imagination and figure it out."
