That night when I got home, I looked in the school directory and typed out an email to the Principal, attaching audio files of Caitlyn admitting to cheating on her SAT's, blackmailing the cheer coach to become head cheerleader, and cheating off of another student's test to pass Spanish so she could stay on the cheer team.
I also attached an audio file of Caitlyn trying to convince me to pretend to date Colton for a month so Takashi would want to date me. That alone proved to everyone what a liar she was. In her video she had made it sound like it was all my idea.
I carbon copied that email to the entire student and staff directory at Lake Forest Academy, so everyone would see what kind of person Caitlyn really was. For the smaller, less important things, I sent emails to individual people with audio clips of things she had said or done that involved just them personally.
I set a delayed delivery time on all of the emails so they would all be sent out at the exact same time, during the final announcements of the school news broadcast the next day.
Caitlyn always thought she was the genius mastermind of our school, but she was about to find out how wrong she was.
This time tomorrow, every single person at Lake Forest Academy would find out what an evil villain Caitlyn really was and that she wasn't the victim she pretended to be. I couldn't wait.
*** The Next Day ***
As I sat in my last period class of the day, I kept looking up at the digital clock, counting down the minutes until it was time for the student news to come on. I couldn't wait to see the look on Caitlyn's face when the video aired that Jasmine and Dominique had helped me record during our lunch break today.
At the end of the news, Caitlyn was about to read off the announcements but Jasmine jumped in front of the camera and said, "Actually, we have a special pre-recorded segment to play before we get to the announcements today."
Caitlyn looked confused as the shot cut away and our video started to play. It was me, sitting behind the news anchor desk and I said, "Hi, for those that don't know me, my name is Sydney Ryan. Yesterday, I was the victim of a character assassination. Caitlyn accused me of a lot of things, and I'm here to set the record straight."
I watched nervously, waiting to see what everyone's reactions would be.
"Caitlyn is the one that came up with the idea for me to pretend to date Colton. She said if I dated the most popular guy in school, it would make Takashi Chang like me. I didn't go into this wanting to steal her boyfriend or trying to get popular. I just wanted the guy I had a crush on to finally notice me. And Caitlyn didn't become my friend back in middle school because she felt sorry for me and wanted to do something nice. She did it because she was jealous of my friendship with Colton and wanted to take his place as my best friend to separate us. She claimed to be so heartbroken and madly in love with Colton, but the real reason she wanted to break up with him was so she could hook up with other guys, like Takashi Chang. That's right. She was claiming to be my dating coach and giving me advice on how to get him to like me, all while she was hooking up with him behind my back the entire time. Some best friend," I said with an exhale, shaking my head.
"She also blackmailed the cheer coach to steal the captain position from her friend, she accused a girl of dropping her to get her kicked off the team because she was too pretty and got all the attention, she switched tests with a smart girl to pass Spanish so she wouldn't get kicked off the cheer team, which made that girl get grounded and have to miss her best friend's birthday party. Caitlyn thought that was hilarious, and didn't feel bad at all. Worst of all, she cheated on her SAT's to get into a good college, bribing a teacher to let somebody else take it for her."
