After Stefan had shown her the picture of his sister she had gone into a deep dive of witch research to find out what the hell was going on. She took a picture on her phone of the old photo, not wanting to take something so precious to Stefan.

Elinor had even called her aunt Jo, she wasn't particularly close with any of her dad's family. Her mom didn't even know she was in contact with them but she had reached out to anyone when her powers started manifesting.

Her aunt had given her some basic lessons and her old grimoire. Her aunt didn't practice anymore and had given up her magic but they had agreed not to tell the rest of the family I existed.

Given that her grandfather would be more likely to shun her and try and kill her if he found out about her rather than give Elinor a hug she was inclined to agree with her aunt Jo on that one.

There was a reason her Dad had gone fucking psychotic in her family's coven, siphoners were thought of as abominations so if her grandfather ever found out about her he would be more likely to think she was evil in carnet than a well adjusted college student.

When it came to Siphon witches Elinor was inclined to believe their reputation was more due to nurture over nature. The child cast out from the village will watch it burn with no remorse.

Besides her aunt Jo she had another aunt and uncle, they were actually the same age as her but she knew they wouldn't exactly jump for joy to meet her.

Elinor was happy with just her Aunt Jo, they would exchange Christmas presents every year and call for birthdays and if she had a witch problem she had someone to go to.

Except now Aunt Jo didn't know shit, she was just as stumped about the whole doppelganger thing as she was which left Elinor at a standstill.

She was so sucked in that she only realized what day it was when her mom came home freshly compelled.

After she had talked to Care to make sure she was okay the three of them had dinner together at Elinor's insistence. She wanted to discuss something she had been thinking about ever since she found out Caroline was a vampire and everything that had been happening in her hometown.

"So I think I'm gonna take the rest of the semester off. I've been thinking about it and I want to be at home for a while" Elinor said, surprising both her Mom and Sister.

"Excuse me? You're dropping out of Colledge?" Liz asked, gobsmacked by her daughter.

Elinor shook her head "No, I've finished most of my Gen eds so far and I haven't picked a major. I wanna take a break before I waste all this time and money on classes that won't even get me the degree I want" she said honestly.

She had been considering taking a year off after the end of the semester but those plans had been moved up.

She wasn't going to sit at college worrying about grades when her sister could get killed by all the idiot teenagers in this town.

"I thought you wanted to be a psych major? You were taking all those psychology classes" Liz asked, trying to talk her daughter out of making a mistake. The problem was Liz knew she had no real say, Elinor had taken out school loans so Liz had no leg to stand on.

Elinor shrugged half heartedly "I liked it but I took those more because I was interested and not because I want to be a therapist. Plus the credits don't hurt. Being honest I have no idea what I want to major in and until I do I'm gonna take a break and move back down here. At least until I figure things out" she said casually.

If her mom wouldn't let her live at home she would rent an apartment, her mom didn't know this but Elinor had a bit of a side business.

Most people thought all the vampire and werewolf shit on Craigslist was all bullshit but they were wrong, only 90% of it was bullshit and the other 10% was the real deal.
