Chapter 13

"So let me get this straight, Elinor suddenly began acting like a completely different person, knew Elijah by name, hugged Damon and then snapped his neck? Then proceeded to kiss and tell the scary original guy Elijah she loves him?" Caroline asked, having come to the Salvatore boarding house after Elena called her.

The glass of bourbon in Damon's hand suddenly broke from the pressure of his grip but he didn't even flinch as the glass embedded in his skin.

Elena glanced at him before turning back to Caroline "Yeah pretty much, then she told me she would come by in a few days to explain and that everything was going to be okay" she explained hesitantly, knowing Damon was barely holding on.

"And you believed her?" Damon asked angrily, pulling the shards of glass out of his hand.

Elena just ignored it, she had a long day yesterday, she had been forced to wait for Damon to wake up and he had been anything but happy, more like on a rampage.

"It's not like I could stop an original but she seemed happy to see him, they knew each other. I don't know how but they definitely did" Elena told the group, everyone had gathered to find out what happened the day before.

"How is that possible? She had no idea who the originals were a few days ago!" Caroline said, absolutely sure her sister had never met Elijah before.

It wasn't like Elijah could hide who he was from her if they really were together, Elinor had known she was a vampire as soon as they touched. She would be able to tell if someone was an original vampire.

"I...I don't think Elinor is a doppelganger" Damon finally said making everyone turn to him. "She called me brother before she snapped my neck" he said with a deep sigh.

"So what, you think she's really Genevieve?" Caroline asked, knowing exactly what Damon was talking about.

"What I know is that the Originals have a portrait of her and their minions searching for her because she's important to them. She looks just like our little sister and until yesterday was a completely normal annoying witch and then she lays eyes on Elijah and suddenly she's acting different and called me brother before she left with the same Original that I put a stake through after declaring her love for him. That's all I know" Damon said, laying out exactly what he knew.

"You can't be serious" Alaric said doubtfully, dopllegangers were one thing but that?

Bonnie awkwardly spoke up "It sounds like reincarnation, it's nothing crazier than vampires and werewolves" she said, giving Alaric a look.

"No, there are some things that just aren't real, next thing you know fairies are next!... You know what sounds like you all have this I'm going home to grade papers, if something happens give me a call" Alaric said in exasperation before leaving the boarding house.

Bonnie nodded "Yeah look, if you guys hear anything give me a text but the locator spell already failed. She's a witch so she can fight me, so unless you guys have any other plans I'm gonna go" She said, not wanting to be around vampires more than she had to.

Bonnie couldn't help them, Elinor was cloaked and Stefan was stuck in the tomb, she couldn't take down the spell. She had tried and failed yesterday when Elinor was taken by Elijah and Stefan was locked in the tomb.

"Well I'm not going anywhere until we find my sister" Caroline said as she crossed her arms, making it clear she would be staying.

Jeremy and Bonnie left together leaving Damon alonge with Caroline and Elena.

Caroline knew the Salvatores were the best bet in finding her sister and getting her home. Stefan may be stuck in the tomb now but Damon was just as motivated to find Elinor as she was, maybe even for the same reason.
