Maithili's Pov
"Shall I call Abeer and ask for Prem's number? It's already been an hour and no one has come yet," Aarav says from beside me as I rest my head on the tree behind us, Aarav kept me entertained with his unusual and funny stories, but he was right, now the mosquitoes were sucking my blood dry and I was feeling hungry.
"Yes, why didn't you do that earlier?" I say once I registered what he said.
"Because I just got the idea," Aarav says and watches as he dials Aarav's number.
"Hey man, where are you? I just called Zian, and he said you're out of the station," Abeer's voice reached me and a familiar warmth fell upon me. But then I realized what he just said, Abeer didn't know yet that I was with Aarav or that we were staying at his house in Ooty and Aarav looked at me as if he realized it too.
"Yeah, I was out for a bit, what are you guys doing? Not so much fun I hope," Aarav says and I definitely knew he was teasing Abeer with the last sentence.
"Shut up Aarav, I and shorty are here for work," he says and I smile.
"When did I say you aren't? Or are you guys really doi-"
"Aarav be quiet, and tell me why have you called?" he asks and I chuckle lowly.
"Actually you know your house in-"
"Who is that?" We heard an unknown voice coming from the phone, it was a man's.
"Sorry, my friend just called, I'll be there in a minute," Abeer says to the man as we listen carefully.
"Who was that?" Aarav asked the question which I wanted to.
"The police," Abeer says and my eyes widen.
"What? Why are you at the police?" Aarav asks and looks at me.
"You know I told you about my friend, Princess Maithili, you know she disappeared on her wedding day right? Someone told the police that I was her friend, and now they're all grilling me asking me if I have helped her run away or if was there some affair going on between us and whatnot," Abeer says sounding tensed, "I've been in and out of police station so many times in the last two days," he adds and I feel the panic seep through my body.
Oh God, now they're after Abeer!?
"Shit man, what happened then?" Aarav asks.
"I called Shorty as a witness saying she is my girlfriend and Mahi was just my friend and nothing else, they still don't believe me so now they're going to check all the cameras in the hall room where all the guests were there on the marriage day so they can verify that I'm telling the truth," Abber says and I felt more panicked.
