Maithili's Pov

"Will you stop running?" I yell as I follow Abeer out of the house.

"Don't follow me!" he yells back but I don't stop and follow him until he finally stops at the end of the garden which overlooks a vast amount of trees.

"Abeer, stop!" I call out, gasping for air after running after him. I collapse onto the bench, trying to catch my breath while Abeer looks away, giving me a moment to recover.

"How did you two even manage to get out of the wedding hall with all that security and police around?" Abeer suddenly asks. A grin slips onto my face as I remember the day I escaped with Aarav. But when I look up at Abeer, my smile quickly fades, he's glaring at me, and I know he's not impressed.

"Mark and Sam helped me," I tell him and he shakes his head.

"Unbelievable," he mutters and turns towards me.

"And here I thought you were kidnapped and then there were no calls from the kidnappers so we thought something bad had happened to you, your mom is literally sick right now,"Abeer says, his voice tight with frustration. My eyes widen in shock as I quickly stand up, completely taken aback.

"Wait, what?" I ask, my heartbeats beating fast as I feared the worst.

"Her blood pressure dropped suddenly last week and she was hospitalized," Abeer informs me as I feel a tear drop roll down my eye as I look up at him.

"Is she okay now?" I ask and he nods his head.

"She's fine, but your dad was saying she isn't eating properly and not taking care of herself," he says and I sit down, my fist biting my skin as I feel a sudden dread overtake me.

"I need to go back," I say all of a sudden and stand up when Abeer walks towards me and sits me down forcefully.

"Yeah? I don't think so," he says as I look up at him worried.

"I need to see her," I say.

"I know, Mahi, but think about Aarav. He's stuck in this because of you. If you get caught, he'll be dragged down too," Abeer says, and my eyes widen in alarm. "You're a princess, so they won't harm you, but Aarav..." He trails off, shaking his head. "We need to come up with a plan before your family finds out," he adds, his voice serious.

"You're right," I mutter under my breath.

"Mahi-" he starts and I look up, "Why the hell didn't you tell me anything?" he asks sounding frustrated. "I would've helped, dad would've helped," he says and I shake my head.

"How exactly were you supposed to help me?" I snap, my frustration boiling over. "I was about to marry Lakshya, Abeer," I remind him, my voice sharper now. "And if you remember, I told you how I felt about him, that I didn't want this marriage. Do you remember what you said?" I ask, the memory of those conversations flooding back which we had over the day my marriage was fixed.
