Maithili's Pov
"Bhai, what are you doing here?" Ira asks walking towards the man standing tall ahead of us.
I was a little scared at first when he came all of a sudden and even more scared when Aarav had tried to hide me behind him, but when I felt him relaxed I took a peek at the person as Ira walked towards him. He was handsome no doubt, but he looked like some kind of powerful man we should be afraid of, and not to forget those huge guards around him with guns in their hands.
I watch him look at me and I go still, "You're coming with me," he says as my eyes widen as Aarav again goes and tries to hide me but I see the determined look on that man's face.
"No," Aarav says firmly, as the man begins to walk toward us, his footsteps slow but heavy.
"I wasn't asking," the man replies coldly. His eyes shift to Abeer, and his tone sharpens, "I thought I told you to stay away from my sister," he says.
"I'm not staying away from her," Abeer says as he looks at him, "And you're not taking her anywhere," he adds pointing at me as I watch the man who doesn't show any expression but keeps glaring at Abeer.
"Bhai, please, you have to help us," Ira says, moving toward the man with pleading eyes. "If you take Maithili, they'll take Aarav too. It's not his fault. I told you everything," she says.
I stare at her in disbelief. Did she tell him? Was she the one who revealed where we were? A surge of irritation and anger rises within me.
"Why would you tell him that?" Aarav's voice is laced with anger, but I can hear the disappointment too.
"Aarav!" Abeer snaps, glaring at him. "She was just trying to help!" he says glaring at Aarav who hold onto my hand tightly.
"Yes, but why did she tell us we were here? We had-"
"Enough!" the man's voice thunders, silencing everyone. We all stop, turning to face him. "She didn't tell me where you were," he says, walking toward Aarav and me, "but she did ask me to save you, and that's why I'm here." His eyes narrow as he looks down at me. "If you want to save him, you need to return to the palace," he states.
"I'm not going anywhere," I say, my voice steady despite the panic bubbling inside me. His gaze hardens, and he shifts his focus to Aarav.
"Then I suppose I should inform the police about your location," he says casually, and my heart skips a beat. His words are aimed directly at Aarav, and I know I can't let that happen.
"Bhai, what are you doing?" Samaira's voice cuts through the tension, her eyes filled with frustration as she glares at her brother. "I told you they were good people. You can't do this!" she says.
