AIAH'S POV

I am on my way to our house to meet Dad, and I'm with Loi because she insisted na ihatid niya ako.

I can definitely drive but Loi wants coffee so in exchange, gawin ko raw siyang driver tapos coffee lang bayad. I know Loi can afford coffee masyado lang talaga siyang malambing.

"Alam mo Ate Aiah," Loi said curiously while driving and focusing on the road, "sometimes I wonder how you can be so wealthy and still work as a freelance model."

I just smiled at her and replied, "Naaaah, it's not my money, not my wealth, so I couldn't really say that. Gusto ko maging independent Loi, kilala mo naman ako di 'ba?

"Right. Right. Miss independent ka nga pala talaga"
she responded with a brief smile.

"By the way, masyado ka atang focused sa driving skills ko hahahaha. We're here na" Loi teased.

"I didn't even notice, hahaha," I replied.

"I'll go na ha. Do you want me to send it to you or dalhin ko na lang paguwi ko?" I asked

"No, I'll just pick you up later," she said.

"Woah, are you trying to court me? HAHAHAHA," I joked.

"My goodness! Of course not!" she laughed.

"I'm just kidding! Pasok na 'ko ha?"  I uttered

"Go na. Chat mo na lang ako, okay?" Loi said, so I just nodded in response and went inside the house.

"Nandito ka na po pala, Ma'am," Manong guard greeted me. I smiled back and made my way to the dining area since Dad had told me he asked our maid to prepare my favorite dishes.

When I arrived, I saw Dad sitting at the table, obviously waiting for me. There was also another woman sitting there, but I couldn't quite figure out who she was because our dining chairs are quite tall and I could only see a bit of her figure.

The thought na baka si Mom 'yon made me excited kaya dali-dali akong lumapit sa kanila.

As I got closer, Dad greeted me with a warm smile, but I couldn't return it; I was frozen in place. My feet felt as though they were glued to the spot where I was standing.

The woman at the table turned slightly, and my heart raced as I tried to piece together the familiar figure in front of me. The features and the gentle, almost nostalgic aura felt like a dream.

The realization slowly dawned on me, and I struggled to process the overwhelming surge of emotions.

"Wh-what are you doing here?" I stuttered, my voice barely above a whisper.

She flashed a smile at me—my favorite smile. Her sweet gaze was fixed on me as if she had been longing to hug me.

But why is she here? Why is she looking at me like nothing ever happened?

"Hi, anak. Mikhayla's here," my dad answered, stepping in to clarify for Mikha.

"She's the daughter of a business friend and former club co-member of mine," Dad continued.

"She mentioned something about my previous club's mission, which is sensitive information, but yes, you can trust her. By the way, she also mentioned she's your girlfriend. Why didn't you tell me about that?" Dad added with a teasing smile.

"Nope, she's not my girlfriend Dad. She clearly told me that she doesn't want to have me as her girlfriend" I firmly responded.

"Well, that's actually what she explained to me," Dad said.

"I-I'm sorry, love. I only said that because I didn't know how to handle it when I saw your dad on your phone. He was the target of my mission, and I didn't want to hurt you. I love you, Aiah... I really do," Mikha Lim explained, leaving me more confused.

"What do you mean? What mission are you talking about?" I asked, trying to make sense of the situation.

"You don't need to know any more details, anak. What's important is that she's working to resolve things so you two can be together without any issues," Dad interrupted, trying to reassure me.

"No, I need to know, Dad. How can I trust her again if I don't know anything about her?" I exclaimed, frustration and confusion mixing in my voice.

"I'm an undercover agent," she said sincerely, her voice trembling with earnestness. "That's all that I can say for now though that alone is already confidential. But please trust me. I'll do everything to protect you." She stepped closer and enveloped me in a tight hug.

I couldn't find the words to respond. Her embrace was warm and familiar, and I missed her deeply, yet I struggled to let go of my reservations. Her hug felt suffocatingly tight as I tried to pull away.

"I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry I didn't reach out for almost three weeks. I just needed to resolve everything," she whispered softly.

I remained silent, sitting down in the chair across from her. The weight of the revelations was too much to process all at once.

"Let's eat for now," Dad said, trying to break the tension. "You two can catch up later."

---------

After lunch, I quickly texted Loi to pick me up.

"Dad, I'm going outside to wait for Loi," I said, unable to stay any longer with Mikha there.

"Tell Yves na ako na maghahatid sa 'yo," Mikha interrupted.

"No, ayaw kong makita ka ng mga kaibigan ko," I replied firmly.

"Please?" she asked with those irresistible puppy eyes.

"No, I don't want to," I said, sticking to my decision.

"Oh, ayaw mo huh?" she said, suddenly lifting me and carrying me toward her car, which was parked near the gate.

"I miss you, love. Please let me make it up to you, please?" she pleaded.

"After what you did, Mikha Lim? You really think we can just pick up where we left off?!" I exclaimed.

"I'll court you again. I'll be better this time," she promised.

"No, I can't allow that. Sasagutin na sana kita, but you messed everything up," I said, standing my ground.

"Be my girlfriend, then," she smirked, her eyes gleaming with determination.
