Maggie came back a few moments later with a tray, the tray consisted of a sandwich, a glass of water and the medicine she had to take because of the infection. "Merine" Maggie heard from beside her, the voice was soft, weak, in fact, it was so soft, Maggie wasn't totally sure if she actually heard it but she heard it the same.

Maggie's eyes flickered to Mernie who didn't meet her eyes as she sat down on the tray on the table next to the bed. “Nice to meet you, Mernie." Maggie said with a smile.

Maggie time in the room with her was quick, she gave her the medicine before giving the girl space, Mernie ate the sandwich and drank the water down too quickly before falling into a deep sleep, much to a dismay.

She did try to fight the sleep off, though she did speak in front of the eldest daughter of Hershal Greene, she still didn't want one of them to walk in and slit her throat while she slept.

It was a paranoid thought, she knew it but the world ended and nobody knew who they can trust. Marina didn't know if she can trust them. That's what matters,

But atlas, she didn't fight the sleep off forever, as she felt her eyes slowly drop.

                             Rick's POV
Rick sitting outside the room where his son laid shot, inside the room Hershal and his family doing what he can for the boy. Rick sat outside the room, his face in his hands as he mind drifted back to seeing his son laying on the ground in the middle of the woods, blood coming from his stomach.

He wanted it to be a nightmare, praying he'll wake up back at his house with his wife and son back in their neighborhood, but this was his reality, and he didn't know how to face it.

After a few minutes, he shookily stood up and walked outside to porch as Shane and Otis, the man who shot Carl accidently came intime. “is he alright? Is he alive?” Otis asked with a shaky voice.

Rick barely responded to him, only with a weak nod of his head as he brought his hand up to wipe the sweat off his forehead, only replacing it with blood. His son's blood.

Shane watched him with a sad look in his eyes, pulling a cloth from his pocket and took a step onto the porch, he knew Rick was in shock, a shock he needed to pull himself out of.

                            Marina's POV

Marina opened her eyes, letting out a weak groan as she moved too much and pulled her stitches. She slowly brought her legs to one side of the bed and let her bare feet touch the cold hardwood floor.

She heard panicked, loud voices downstairs and it worried her. She grabbed her boots and slided them on before trying to stand up but as soon as she got both feet firmly on the ground.

Maggie came in through the door, making her jump so high it made her fall down onto the ground, letting out a yelp. “Sorry, Jumpy.” Maggie said with a laugh.

Mernie sent Maggie a glare as she slowly picked herself up from the ground, holding her side. “Rude.” Mernie grumbled as she sat back down on the bed.

Maggie rolled her eyes, “ain't my fault, you are supposed to be on bedrest. Wouldn' ever happened if you stayed in bed.” Maggie teased as took a step closer.

“I heard stuff downstairs, and wanted to know what was going on.” Mernie spoke, only giving Maggie a glance before looking at the window.

Maggie raised her eyebrows at the girl, the smirk still visible on her lips. “okay miss nosey. A man came in with a little boy. An accident happened, the boy was shot.” Maggie explained, the smirk smirk falling and a serious look fell on her face. “My dad is working on them.”

“oh,” Mernie mumbled, standing back up once again. She laid back down on the bed, holding her injured side.

“Nobody is gonna hurt you here,” Maggie said, looking at the shorter girl. Mernie only stared at her with a look of doubt. “exept, maybe yourself, jumpy.” Maggie added with a chuckle causing Mernie to roll her eyes.

Soon, Mernie was once again left alone in the room again. Her mind shifted back to the day in the woods with Sophia, she hoped the group found her or she made it back to the highway.

Though, it did phase her that the kid could still be out there, She wished it could've gone some other way. If she didn't rip her stitches, she would've been able to run along with sophia further, would've been able to fight the walkers off, would've been able to take sophia back to the highway, back to her mother.

But, that's not how things played out, instead, she reopened the wound she caused herself. She ran into the woods, pulling the younger girl with her, a child, thinking it'll be the best route to save her.

Then, when she couldn't run anymore, she told the child to run, to run and run with no weapon. The guilt was eating away at her, and now she had to find a way to live with it.

On top of it all, she didn't even go out and look for the kid, because she was on bedrest, In a house filled with strangers. She couldn't even go after the girl properly when the walkers were gone, all because she messed herself up with her own knife and lost too much blood to carry on.

Mernie had to stop her mind, she could feel the anger rising inside of her. She wanted to shut off her mind and leave it shut off til she said so. In a way you can, by falling alseep and that's what Merina did. Letting the darkness swallow her whole.
