chapter 14 - Breakdown and confession

Lexi's pov
Nina sent me the address, before I left I explained everything to lily and  she became all dramatic has always but she understood the situation.
Before I went to his apartment,I went to buy a cake and a few things,Nina said it was Mitchell's favorite cake,I hope it won't be a big mistake buying this cake.from then I went to his apartment and knock on the door.
" Who is it?"
" It's me , Lexi".
" Lexi.... What are you doing here How did you know where I stay?"
" Don't be mad ,but Nina told me".
It became quite for a while.
" Please can you let me in".
" I want to be alone?"
" Fine if you won't open,I waiting out here".
" Go home Lexi".
" Michael please ".
" Fine".
He finally came and opened the door,I felt pity when I looked at him his hair was a mess ,his eyes where red and looked dark he wore a grey hoodie,grey sweatpants and grey socks,the house looked dark the curtains were closed.
" Are you coming in or not?"
" Yeah...yeah... yeah sure".
" If you think am celebrating my birthday please don't waste your time and go home".
" Am not here for that".
" Then what are you here for,why is there a cake in that plastic ".
" I came here to comfort you ".
" I don't need it ".
I signed and went to open the curtains,while Michael sat down and got a glass of wine while looking at Mitchell's picture.
" Close the curtains ",he said.
" It to dark,why".
" It my house he shouted,what are you doing here Lexi,what do you want?"
" I wouldn't have come here even if Nina asked me but I did,if you don't want my company fine am leaving".
I got my stuff and was about to open the door,but then I stop.
A certain verse from the bible came to mind.( Psalm 116 :5- 9)
Which says.

5- The lord is merciful and good;
Our God is compassionate.
6-The lord protects the helpless;
When I was in danger ,he saved me.
7-Be confident,my heart,
Because the lord has been good to me.
8- The lord saved me from death;
He stopped my tear's
And kept me from defeat.
9- And so I walk in the presence of the lord.
In the world if the living.

If God can do that for me ,why can't I be there for my brother who's in need,I know how I feel,I just have been hiding it.
Then I heard a voice tell me.
SAVE HIM, LIKE I SAVED YOU MY CHILD.
It's that sweet still small voice,I love to hear , God's voice.
Yes lord I will try and bring your lost child to you, I had to take in a breather first.
" I like you, Michael".
" What...what did you say".
" I said I like you,and I realize I like you way to much".
I left the door handle and look at him.

Michael pov
I don't know if I heard her right or my ears have a problem.
Did she just say she likes me.
She left the door handle and came towards me and put her hands on both my cheeks and stared into my eye's.
" I like you Michael white,and Jesus loves you and wants to save you he wants to  bring you back,and Mitchell wouldn't want you to be sad forever, either."
" But it was fault,she isn't here".
" And it's my fault my mother isn't here".
" What do you mean?"
Lexi explained everything from beinging  and until this day.we were kind of similar.and how Jesus saved her ,I felt like I wanted that too.
"Come to church with me on Sunday please, Jesus still can forgive,you even if you have asked your parents to forgive you but ,they haven't ,Jesus can."
" I don't deserve it ".
" You do , Michael just please come to church with me even just for a day".
" Okay fine I will ".
" Okay since that's done, please let's eat something ".she said as she dragged me to the table removed two bottles of drink and a cake.wait this is Mitchell's favorite cake and a memory came back.
Flash back
" Big brother, big brother where is the cake you promised me?"Mitchell asked.
"Close your eyes, it's a surprise ".
" Okay ".
" Now open your eyes".
" Ahh but you don't have it".
" It's behind you,I reached for her back and tickled her she laughed and laughed ".
" What's going on here ?" Nina asked.
" Big sis ,big brother isn't giving me my cake but his tickling me ,tell him to stop".
" I want to be tickled too".
" Okay then come here".
I tickle both Nina and Mitchell,they where so happy.
" Okay, okay now cake time ".
" Yehhhhh".
" My favorite cake", Mitchell screamed.
" Happy birthday Mitchell".
That's when she turned two ,and just in a few months non of us knew she was going to lose her life.
Flash back end .
I was already eating the cake while crying,I just couldn't take it anymore I drought the fork and cried.
Lexi came to my side an hugged me.
After sometime,I calmed down.
" Am sorry I had to cry Infront of you like that".
" I don't mind it's, fine you just lost your sister today I understand."
" Thank you for being here with me".
" No problem".
"Oh look at the time I should be going".
" Oh yeah ,but I really wanted you to stay I know lily must be worried".
" Yeah".
I excorted Lexi to the door,but before she left, I intertwined my fingers with hers.and we just stared at each other as usual.and I smiled.
And then I did something I never thought I would do.i kissed her forehead then hugged her.
" I like you too Lexi Brooks".
" You do".
" Alot".
And then she hugged me back.
After a while I excorted  her to the parking lot and she drove off .
My heart feels kinda light and it because of the girl I confessed to , today.
I can't believe I did that.
Mitchell big bro loves you and his sorry.
Am sure alot of things will be different now.
