I tried for you
Tried to see through all the smoke and dirt
It wouldn't move

-

Say isn't it strange?
Isn't it strange?
I am still me
You are still you
In the same place

-

Then the silence steals over to my bedside
And it whispers who I am
That violent disclosure turns my insides
Stops me when I try to stand
Isn't it strange
How people can change
From strangers to friends
Friends into lovers
And strangers again?

THE morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over everything. I felt JJ stir beside me, his face nuzzling deeper into the crook of my neck, trying to steal a few more minutes of sleep. The warmth of his breath tickled my skin, making me smile.

But the day was calling us, and there was so much to do. I started placing gentle kisses on his face, threading my fingers through his messy, sun-kissed hair. He groaned like a child, refusing to wake up just yet.

"Jay, wake up," I whispered, my voice barely breaking the peace of the early morning. The sound of seabirds and the rustling wind filled the air, mixing with the distant clucking of chickens. It felt like everything was finally falling into place, peaceful and calm.

"No..." JJ grumbled, tightening his arms around me, pulling me closer. His grumpy, half-asleep state made me grin. "Five more minutes, babygirl," he mumbled, his voice husky and thick, sending a shiver down my spine.

I giggled softly, tracing my fingers down his bare back, loving the way his voice sounded first thing in the morning. "John B's gonna barge in here soon... you better get up, lover," I warned him playfully.

"John B can fuck off," JJ replied, his voice muffled against my neck. "No one's messing with my time cuddling with you," he added, sounding completely serious, which only made me smile wider.

"Yeah—yeah, John B can fuck off," I nodded, trying to sound convincing as I started to shift, rolling him onto his back. He groaned, holding me tightly as he ended up with me sprawled across his chest. "But I wanna love up on you," I pouted.

His eyes snapped open, a wide smirk spreading across his face as he looked at me, suddenly very awake. "Really?"

I grinned mischievously and leaned in, straddling his hips as I pressed my lips to his in a sweet, lingering kiss.

It was meant to be short and innocent, but the way his hands gripped my hips, how they wandered over my bare thighs, as the oversized shirt that belonged to JJ had risen up, had me melting into him.

The kiss deepened, turning fiery, our tongues tangling together in a dance of passion. I couldn't help the soft moan that escaped me as I felt his hands tighten their grip, my hips instinctively moving against him.

Just as the kiss started to get out of hand, I pulled back with a gasp, trailing my lips down his neck, biting gently at the spot where his neck met his collarbone. He groaned in pleasure, the sound sending a rush of heat through me, and making me feel warmth that had nothing to do with the sunlight that streaked into the room.

I started to question if my plan was even gonna work. But I held onto my resolve, and just as I brought my lips close to his again, ready to kiss him once more, I pulled away completely and jumped off the bed, giggling.

"Rise and shine, my prince charming," I teased, throwing him a sly smile as I backed toward the door.

JJ frowned, sitting up and leaning back on his elbows as he realized what I had done. "You little sneak," he muttered, catching onto my plan to get him all riled up just to wake him.
