BOOK 1 [with seasons 1 & 2]
Aurora "Rory" Routledge is not just your average Outer Banks teen-she's John B's twin sister and the perfect partner-in-crime for summer adventures. Alongside their tight-knit group of best friends-JJ, Pope, and Kie-the R...
When I started writing 'Catching the Waves' I was just trying to put my thoughts into words in the form of a real character.
When I watched OBX for the very first time, it made me feel longing for a friend group like theirs, to have an adventurous life like they do. To have family like theirs.
It wasn't a plan to publish this book, to create Rory and to live out my OBX fantasy through her character vicariously. But I loved every second of it.
I cannot describe how much joy writing this book has brought me. And that so many of you were so eager to read it, enjoy it, go on this long journey with Rory and JJ. It brings my heart immense happiness that people seriously love this piece of work.
Growing up I was always a bookworm. I read novels, I inhaled romance and fantasy. You can name any fandom and I'd say I was a part of it.
Harry Potter? yes. Maze Runner? yes. Twilight? yes. A crazy Disney fangirl? yes. Twisted Series? yes. Divergent? yes. Shadowhunters? yes. Games of Thrones? yes. Marvel Cinematic Universe? yes. Teen wolf? yes. The vampire diaries? yes. Star Wars? yes. Lord of the Rings? yes. Pokémon? yes. Sherlock Holmes? yes.
and a million other to that list... it would take a while to put them all in one list.
but that was it. Reading. That's all I knew what to do.
I never thought I'd be a writer.
I never thought I could write as beautifully as I have discovered myself to do so while writing this book. Which brings me to my point of why it wasn't planned to publish book in the first place.
But then, i had a push. From a close, dear friend of mine. She encouraged me to put this baby out in the world. She told me, I could be writing messily the first few chapters, it'd not matter. I could be all over the place, I didn't have to know everything all at once. I could learn along the way. The process would only make me better and better.
And I guess, she wasn't wrong. From the very first chapter to the last one, she's read this book. And she praises me for writing this every chance she gets.
I'm grateful for her. I couldn't thank her enough for pushing me do this.
because if she hadn't, this book would not have gotten the love it has received from you people. Thank you for reading this book.
reading the comments of how much you all love the chapters and can't wait to see what happens next, being just as excited and involved with the pogues and Rory. It warmed my heart. Kept me going for so long. Motivated me to write even on days I didn't feel like myself.
Thank you so much.
All my love and care and blessings are with you all. I love every single one of you. I couldn't be more happier with the response this book has gotten.
so, without further ado, please join Rory and JJ on their journey forwards, on Poguelandia (for a while), in Barbados (just for a smidge second), to be back in OBX (for like a week)...only to end up in South America in the end ;)
