"Shit." I mumbled, trying to navigate my way out of the mall with multiple shopping bags.

Christmas was just 2 days away and I'd decided to do some last-minute shopping. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one who had that on my mind so getting out of the mall was a hassle when there were so many people here. When I'd left the house this morning the girls were still asleep. Two nights ago, when I'd agreed to take Taraji to visit Dymond, I ended up bringing Tanika home with me. Taraji had begged me the whole way to that house to let her sister spend the holidays with us. I was hesitant, but after witnessing how she'd fought Taraji and her lashing out at Dymond over the phone, I could tell that this child needed someone in her corner. It was a crying shame that I had to threaten to call CPS in order for her to come along with us.

I'd put her in my second guest room. I thought about putting her in the same room as Taraji. However, I realized that I'd be adding gasoline to an already burning fire because they had problems they hadn't worked out. She hadn't been with us long and she'd been running me crazy these last 2 days with her smart remarks but I still grabbed the little brat a gift or two. She ran my blood pressure up, but honestly it felt good to have other people in my home. I was lonely sometimes but also fearful because Kyaire was still persistent.

I'd finally gotten an alarm system set up with cameras on the in and outside of my home. I'd caught his friends passing by my house on multiple occasions at night although I couldn't prove it was them. A different car would pass by every time with tinted windows and blow the horn before leaving. I had restraining orders against them, and although it wasn't a crime to drive on a public street, they couldn't be near me or my home. They weren't dumb enough to break in again or even step foot on my porch because they'd noticed the cameras. However, that didn't stop them from bothering me in other ways. I hadn't told the girls but they weren't oblivious.

I navigated my way through the parking lot, and the moment I made it to my car I tripped and dropped one of the bags. I sucked my teeth and leaned down to pick it up but another hand grabbed the bag before mine had the chance to. I looked up and was face to face with Dymond's friend— Denim.

"I got it love." He picked it up as we both stood up straight. "Pop your trunk." He took the other bags from me. I studied him for a few seconds because I didn't know him. I only knew him from the messages we'd exchanged about meeting up in a public place to get acquainted on behalf of Dymond and those girls.
