𝙾𝚖𝚗𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝 Dianna sat awkwardly next to Kyaire's mother Vanessa as they sat across from him.
"Ky you should've told me that Dianna was coming today so I wouldn't be cutting in on y'all time," Vanessa said, unaware that this was just a coincidence. All Dianna could think was...was she as delusional as her son? There was no way she was sitting here thinking that they were back together after he'd asked her to marry him, knowing he was involved with his high school sweetheart during that same time. Kyaire was insane, and him sitting across the table smiling like he was innocent only proved that. Dianna thought back to Christmas night and what he'd done.

"Nana Eve...Khadijah...this is Taraji. Taraji this is my grandmother and my cousin." Dianna introduced them.
"Hi." Taraji shyly extended a hand. "I'm—"
"Just a doll." Evelyn cut Taraji off. "Dianna she's gorgeous. It's like looking at a mini you. How you doing baby?" Evelyn hugged Taraji.
Instead of driving herself, she'd had Khadijah come pick her up. Khadijah wasn't Evelyn's grandchild, but she considered her a granddaughter because she was always around despite her uncle not being in Dianna's life. Khadijah's mother was the sibling of Dianna's father who'd walked out of Dianna's life as a child when he started suspecting that his sonDarnell at the time would grow up to be gay. The only people who'd ever known why he'd walked out of Dianna's life were Evelyn and Adina.
Before he'd abandoned Darnell, Khadijah would always come over to play with him or he'd go to his aunt's house to play with her. Many years went by and Darnell transitioned to Dianna. The only people who dealt with Dianna on her father's side of the family were Khadijah and her mother Lillian. The rest of the family were ashamed and weren't as accepting as Adina and Evelyn.
Dianna's grandmother on her father's side of the family was the ring leader when it came to turning folks against her because she believed that men were meant to be with women and women were supposed to be with men. She also felt like something was wrong with Dianna mentally. Because Lillian and Khadijah accepted and treated Dianna as a woman, they were talked down on.
"I'm fine and you?" Taraji smiled as she hugged Evelyn back. She'd never gotten to experience having a grandmother in her life. Before she and Dianna had made their way to the living room, Dianna had told Taraji not to mention anything about Dymond. She also told the same thing to Denim. She'd called him over while the girls were in the room and had asked him to come by for dinner.
"Oooh Dianna I just love her. She's so polite." Evelyn pulled back to study Taraji.
"Nana Eve, can I meet her? Geesh." Khadijah damn near pushed Evelyn out of the way. "Girl you are gorgeous and I love your style. I'm Dianna's favorite cousin. Come here." She pulled Taraji in for a hug.
