"Can I help you?" Nana Eve asked the woman who was standing in my front door. She looked around my living room with a concerned look on her face.

"I'm Pamela Johnston. I'm with social services. I'm here because we've found a family that wants to take Taraji in." The woman said. She wasn't the caseworker that had placed Taraji with me.

"What? No." Taraji cried. "Miss Dianna?" She looked to me for help.

"I'm sorry...what?" I walked toward the front door and my grandmother stepped out of the way. "There must be a mistake. Where's Mrs. Haynes? I don't know you. I didn't receive a call or anything about there being a family. And what type of family just moves a child in without even meeting her and sitting down to talk with her so they can see how they click? Do they just want her for money? Did you do a background check?" I bombarded Pamela with questions.

I was attached to Taraji now. This child had come to me at a time where I needed some happiness in my life and I was starting to look at her as my child. My house was so silent before she'd moved in and her laughter and the purposely nagging me to get a reaction were things I looked forward to. I could remember how she'd been so afraid when she'd first came to me and now she was finally starting to feel safe. This was home to her and they were just going to take her away.

I knew she wasn't going back to her father but I deserved to know who she'd be living with. Before going to see Dymond today, I'd gone to the police station to report him for violating his restraining order yesterday. I'd even shown them a video of him on my property. I avoided showing them the part where Denim had hit him and pulled out a weapon because I didn't want him to get in trouble.

"I assure you that everything was checked out. They've adopted before and are very good people." Pamela said as she started looking around my living room.

I could tell she was judging my company as if they should've never put Taraji here with me. The way Tanika had stormed out of here and Taraji being in tears wasn't a good look either.

"Go pack your things Taraji. I'll wait here for you." Pamela told her.

I looked over my shoulder at Taraji before quickly looking back at Pamela. Was this really happening just 2 days before her birthday? I'd planned something special for her. She was still sick with the flu so I couldn't take her out to celebrate or invite too many people to my house but I was still going to make it special. Once she cleared up I planned on throwing her a 17th birthday party. This child had been through hell and I wanted her to see that she could be loved by someone she'd only known for a few months. My plans were fucking ruined now.

"No. I'm not going. I don't know those people. Can't I just stay here? I'm used to being here. I'm happy here. Miss Dianna please do something." Taraji continued to plead. My heart dropped.
