JOB HUNTING

Mia sat in front of the mirror, styling her hair into a ponytail. She applied a little makeup, her eyes fixed on her reflection. Dressed in corporate attire - a white shirt and black trousers with matching heels - she looked stunning. Grabbing her bag, she hurried out of the room.

The cab halted at the entrance of the company, and Mia stepped out, praying silently as she entered the impressive building. The bold letters "BT Company" adorned the entrance. She was lost in its beauty for a while, her eyes wide with wonder. "Am I in heaven?" she thought inwardly.

As she walked nervously, she bumped into someone, all dressed in a black suit. She raised her head only to see a Greek god in front of her, staring at her with anger. "I think I'm in heaven already, because why the fuck am I seeing an angel?" she thought inwardly, smiling sheepishly.

But the angry voice of the cold fish in front of her jolted her out of her reverie. "Are you blind?" he asked coldly, his words sending chills down her spine.

Another guy who stood beside him quickly spoke up. "I'll take care of her."

The cold fish glared at Mia before storming off, his companion following closely behind. "Watch where you're going, jerk!"

Mia felt insulted but later found herself speaking. "I'm sorry."

"Sorry for yourself," he bellowed, rushing after the cold fish.

Mia wondered, "What the hell! Who's that handsome cold fish? I guess he's one of the employees in this company."

She quickly walked up to the lady in charge of the company's recruitment, her confidence somewhat restored.

Mia handed over her CVs and documents to the lady, who barely looked up from her work. "I'm sorry, but there's no vacancy at the moment. We'll call you if there's an opening."

Mia felt a pang of disappointment, her hopes dashed once again. This was the third company she had visited today, and each one had given her the same response.

As she left the building, she spotted her former boss, Christopher, getting into his car. She rushed over to him, hoping to appeal to his sympathies. "Sir, please... I've been having a hard time since I left the company. Please help..."

But Christopher's expression turned icy. "Not again, Mia. I've ended things with you as my PA. Your good-for-nothing boyfriend came to harass me at the company yesterday. I'm tired of you and your sick boyfriend. I don't want to cross paths with you guys again."

With that, he drove off, leaving Mia standing alone, tears choking her throat. Just then, a warm hand grasped her wrist, and she felt a comforting hug. "I got a job for you, babe," Dylan's voice whispered in her ear.

Mia turned to face him, his handsome face creasing into a smile that revealed his dimples. "Believe me, babe, I got a job for you in the company where I work."

But Mia shook her head, pulling away from him. "Dylan, thanks for trying to help, but I'll never work in your company."

Dylan's face fell, and he called out softly as she walked away. "Mia... why are you doing this to me?"

Mia stopped and turned back, her voice cracking with emotion. "Why are you doing this to me?"

Dylan's eyes dropped, and he licked his lip before speaking. "I'm sorry, Mia. It won't happen again."

But Mia knew she'd heard those words before. "This is always your reply. When are you going to change?"

Dylan sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "I can't help it, but I'll try."

Mia sobbed into his arms for a while before breaking away. "Let's go for lunch, my treat," Dylan suggested, and they headed to a nearby restaurant.

Meanwhile, Nora tried calling Mia but kept getting a voicemail message. "I hope she's not with that psychopath," she muttered to herself and sighed heavily."Being single is much better than being trapped in a toxic relationship" She sighed again as she thought of her former relationship with Jack. Jack loved her so much and showered her with lots of gifts but all of a sudden,he changed towards her and anytime she confronted him, he'll always give her the excuse of being busy with work until one day, she was scrolling through her instagram account when she saw Jack's wedding pictures with a Jamaican lady. She was very heartbroken as she locked her herself up in the room for a while thinking her life was over but Mia stood by her and consoled her till she recovered. Nora had sworn off men after her own painful experience with Jack.  She had vowed to protect Mia from a similar heartbreak.
