THE DATE

Mia's smile brightened as she spotted Bryson, looking dashing but anxious, his gaze fixed on the doorway. His relief was palpable as their eyes met, and his mouth dropped open in awe. She settled in front of him, a playful wink sparking amusement.

"Look, a fly's heading for your mouth," she teased, giggling. Bryson's face flushed as he hastily closed his mouth, momentarily diverting his gaze.

"I thought you weren't going to show up," he said finally.

"Not at all, I'm sorry...Mr Bryson," Mia replied, her apology infused with sincerity. "I didn't mean to keep you waiting."

Mia's cheeks flushed as Bryson corrected her. "We're on a date, not at work, so just call me Bryson." The phrase "we're on a date" echoed in her mind, stirring butterflies in her stomach.

A courteous waiter presented them with menus. "Place your orders, sir, ma'am." After they ordered, the waiter returned with their meals and discreetly withdrew.

"This looks delicious," Mia exclaimed, chuckling. Bryson smiled warmly.

"Enjoy your meal," he invited, and they began eating. Suddenly, Bryson's gaze locked onto Mia's, his intensity making her uncomfortable. She paused, wiping her mouth with a tissue.

"Why?" Bryson asked, curiosity etched on his face.

"You wouldn't stop staring at me," Mia confessed, shyly.

Bryson's soft chuckle accompanied his gentle grasp of her hands. "Mia," he whispered, sending shivers down her spine.

"Mia thought inwardly, 'Only if he could see the effect he's having on me. He keeps intoxicating me.'"

"Yes?" she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Since our accidental encounter at the company, I've felt an undeniable attraction between us," Bryson confessed. "I tried to dismiss it, but our interview and your arrival as my PA only strengthened these feelings. Seeing your ex-boyfriend harass you ignited jealousy and fury within me. You've healed the wounds of my past, Mia. My heart beats for you whenever we're together. For a moment, I thought I'd never love again due to my ex's hurtful actions, but you changed my perspective. You make me feel alive, and love seems inevitable. I want you as my girlfriend, and someday, my wife. I crave someone who'll gaze at me with the same adoration I reserve for chocolate cupcakes."

Mia chuckled through tears at the whimsical analogy. Her emotional nature overwhelmed her, but Bryson's vulnerable expression held her captive. As he awaited her response, his breathing quickened.

"He prayed silently not to be rejected. She wiped her tears and grasped Bryson's hand tightly.

"Bryson... I love you too, but..."

"No buts, please, Mia. If you truly love me, you wouldn't have an excuse."

"What will people think of us at the company?"

"Don't let their opinions bother you. If it makes you uncomfortable, we can keep it secret at work."

Mia sighed and frowned, causing Bryson's heart to skip a beat.

"Mia..." He called out, concern etched on his face.

Mia stood, her frown deepening. "It's so sad that..."

Bryson shut his eyes in disappointment, sighing heavily.

Then, Mia's expression transformed.

"I'll be your girlfriend, Bryson, and then your wife in the nearest future!" she exclaimed happily.

Bryson's eyes widened in disbelief as he grabbed her, pulling her into a tight hug and showering her with kisses.

"Thank you for accepting me, Mia. I love you and promise to always love and protect you."

Mia smiled and whispered, "I love you too."

Bryson ordered more drinks, and they celebrated joyfully.

Minutes later, Mia's cheeks flushed red as she gazed at Bryson, her eyes glassy from intoxication.

"You're as handsome as a Hollywood star. I can't believe you're mine," she chuckled before suddenly vomiting on the table.

Bryson was stunned, quickly thinking of a way to clear the mess. He paid the waiter, apologized, and carried the drunk Mia on his back.

Outside,it was dark as the rain poured down, and Mia chuckled, playing on Bryson's back.

"Something's dancing on my back... so sweet and cool. Baby, let's play in the rain!"

Bryson groaned inwardly, "I never knew she had such low alcohol tolerance. There won't be a next time."

They fell to the ground, laughing and kissing in the rain.

After many minutes of playful abandon, Bryson helped the drunk Mia into the car and checked her phone for her address.

Upon arriving at her apartment, Nora answered the door, blushing at the sight of Mia on Bryson's back.

"She got drunk," Bryson explained, worried.

Nora smiled. "Don't mind her; she has a very low tolerance. Thank you for bringing her home."

"It's my duty to protect my girlfriend," Bryson replied, kissing the sleeping Mia before leaving.

Nora's excitement was palpable as she shook Mia awake.

"Baby, wake up! Gist me! Anxiety is eating me up! Bryson came to our house and kissed you... Oh my gosh! This is too good to be true!" she shouted and jumped around the room in excitement.
