THEY MET AGAIN
Nora's anxiety grew as she repeatedly dialed Mia's number, only to be met with silence. "Where are you, Mia?" she exclaimed, redialing.
The phone rang until the last moment before Bryson's voice answered, "Hello?"
Nora's shock was palpable. "Mia, where have you been?" she demanded.
Bryson explained the events, leaving Nora gasping in astonishment. "I'll be right there," she said, hanging up.
"Dylan, you psychopath, not again!" Nora cried, rushing to her car.
At the hospital, Mia had regained consciousness, with Bryson by her side. Nora burst in, calling out, "Mia!"
She enveloped Mia in a warm hug. "My baby!"
Mia laughed. "I'm sorry, Nora. It was all my fault," Bryson apologized.
Nora shook her head. "No, Bryson, it's that psychopath's fault."
Bryson managed a smile. "Baby, are you okay now?"
Mia nodded.
"That fool," Bryson gritted. "I'll make sure he pays for this."
Mia intervened. "Please, Bryson, forgive him this once. I hurt him."
Bryson reluctantly agreed. "If that's what you want, Mia."
Nora disagreed. "He deserves jail time"
"Nora, please forgive him this once," Mia pleaded. "If it happens again, I won't let it slide."
Nora rolled her eyes. "Mom asked about you, and Alvin misses you."
Mia smiled. "I think I should visit them tomorrow after work."
Nora nodded. "I concur."
Bryson suggested, "Let's visit together, baby. I want to meet your family."
Mia blushed. "Okay, baby. Your wish is my command."
They laughed, and Nora joked, "Then I'll tag along."
Bryson and Mia chuckled.
Nora added, "And I'll bring Husayn. I want Mom to meet him."
The room fell silent, reminded of Nora's acceptance of Mia's mother as her own since her own mother's passing.
...
The next day, Dylan groaned in pain as Kyle treated his wounds. "You're only good at this, thought you sucked at everything," Dylan muttered.
Kyle rolled his eyes and gave Dylan a friendly punch. "You look like you were attacked by a gorilla. This guy really beat you up."
Dylan glared. "You know nothing, Kyle. I beat him up too. He should be in the hospital."
Kyle laughed. "Dylan, honestly, try to move on from Mia. You're embarrassing yourself and causing trouble."
Silence followed.
...
Bryson greeted Mia, who had just woken up, with a kiss. "How's your health?"
"I'm better now, thanks," Mia replied.
Nora yawned, stretching her arms. "Saints! I'm late for work!" She checked her wristwatch.
"Mia, are you okay now?" Nora asked.
"Yes, Nora, thank you. You can go to work. I'll be discharged this morning," Mia said.
Nora hugged and kissed Mia before rushing out.
Bryson suggested, "Mia, take a rest today. I'll go to work alone."
Mia protested, "But I'm fine now."
Bryson insisted. "You need a break."
Mia pouted, reluctantly nodding.
After an hour, Mia was discharged, and Bryson drove her home.
"Mia, you should also rest," she said, worried. "You look sick."
Bryson smiled, nodding.
...
Mason drove recklessly, bumping into Sophia's car. She emerged, furious.
"You jerk! Are you blind? Fix this mess!" Sophia shouted.
Mason flashed a smile. "Sophia, love, I didn't know you were back. Sorry for the bump."
Sophia's anger intensified. She grabbed his shirt, hitting him. "You idiot! You ruined my life and relationship with Bryson. I detest you!"
Mason tried to calm her. "Sophia, Bryson doesn't deserve you. You're better than him."
Sophia slapped Mason, making him stagger.
"Mason!" someone shouted. Mason saw his mother's angry face in her moving vehicle.
Mason rushed into his car, driving off. Sophia cried, zooming off in her car.
At home, Sophia drank alcohol, reminiscing about the past. "It's not my fault, it's Mason's. Bryson thinks I'm the bad girl, but his stepbrother ruined our relationship."
Tears streamed down Sophia's face as memories from three years ago flooded back.
